Here are some tasks we hope you will enjoy.  Please scroll down and select the tasks appropriate to your child.  

BLUE COLOURED TASKSare aimed at Pathway 1 pupils as well as pupils who prefer more interactive activities and require a higher level of support.

GREEN COLOURED TASKS - are aimed at pupils in the main body of the school.

PURPLE COLOURED TASKS - are aimed at pupils who would enjoy more of a challenge

Aims:  These tasks are designed to be done with your child. Maths Focus

 

 

  • Draw a castle but only using the following shapes:

square, rectangles, circles and triangles

  • Count how many squares you have used.

Fireworks in a Glass

This is a very cool, simple and fun experiment, and also completely safe, just don’t drink the water. Support will be needed throughout this experiment.

This is a healthy fun recipe where you can use up any fruit you have at home.

Key Skills: Find fruit that are the different colours of the rainbow, push them through a skewer in order.

Task 1  Focus: Making a Fairy Wand.

 Key Information:

It is spring and you might see butterflies in your garden or in the park. Why not have a go and make your own butterfly wand. Make a Butterfly-shaped wand out of paper, a wooden dowel and some glitter. Printable shape templates are included in the link for easy crafting.

Materials Needed:

  • A4 or Letter size cardstock
  • Crayons, coloured pencils, coloured markers or poster paint· Wooden dowel (¼" x 12")
  • Glitter glue
  • White glue

  • Masking tape
  • Curly gift ribbons, curled fabric ribbons or crepe paper
  • Pipe cleaner, rhinestones, sequins, plastic gems, stickers and other notions (optional)

Task2  Focus: Making a dragon out of egg cartons

Key Information:

Egg carton craft is an endless well of craft ideas for kids. This egg carton dragon is a great recycled craft activity. Follow the first link above and print the printable dragon bits. Then, watch the second link above to find out how to make an egg carton dragon.

Can you move around like them? Your family get a point if they can guess who you are!

Soldier? Queen? Chef? Have a go at thinking of your own.

 

Soldier follow the leader: March around like a soldier following the person in front. When they shout “change”, the person at the front moves to the back. How long can you keep this going for?

Thinking

Literacy Focus

Developing research skills to add detail to an original story. Build skills planning and sequencing a story.

Key Terms to try and learn:  These are good revision for storytelling from our Week 2 pack of work.

noun = naming words eg table, chair, pencil, cat, dog

verb = doing word eg the boy crept along the corridor

adjective = describing word e.g. the corridor was dark and spooky.

adverb = tells you more about the verb eg the boy crept quietly.

punctuation = .   ,   ?   !   ‘  we need these to help the reader understand.

paragraph = section of writing about the same thing.

Task Focus: Spotting Disney castles and drawing your own Fantasy Castle

Key Information:

We see castles everywhere in history, movies, films and especially Disney films.

But what are castles for? Where can we see them in England?

Look at the 8 real locations clip  that inspired Disney scenes. Can you spot the locations which are castles/palaces?Discuss who lives in a castle, use google to find out who lives in Windsor castle.

Challenge: Design a poster to highlight potential risks in a computer office located in a magical castle and how they can be overcome.

Challenge: Create a comic strip advising Harry Potter on how to be safe. Unfortunately he has forgotten and needs your help to stay safe online.

Task Focus: Developing research and design skills

Key Information:

Artists like to research and discover things to help them develop new ideas

Research 3-5 facts on Windsor Castle.Tell someone at home your favourite facts you didn't know before.  Then, design and draw your own castle, it can be a mediaeval castle or a fantasy one from your imagination.  Label the parts of the castle once complete or add characters in your design
