Issue 3 - Friday 19 September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

The new academic year is in full swing, and it was fantastic to welcome all the students back last week.  They have all settled into the new school year and their new surroundings in B Block really smoothly.  This is due to the hard work of the staff and also the resilience and willingness of the young people to adapt to their new surroundings.

As a new member of the Meadow Community, I have really enjoyed meeting the students in their Pathway assemblies.  I have focussed on introducing myself to them and reminding them of some of the basics that we need to get right to succeed in school and in life.  I have focussed on

  • Be on time
  • Look smart
  • Work hard
  • Be kind

As stated in my letter, I am calling on your support in this by making sure your child arrives in the correct uniform every day and is on time to school or to meet their pre-booked transport.  As a staff, we are monitoring these basics in school and will reach out to you if we require your support.

Please can I also request that at drop off and pick up time that parents do not use the turning circle.  This is to enable us to manoeuvre three large coaches and multiple buses safely and get the students off of them and into school smoothly.

In the next few weeks I will be arranging three opportunities for parents to come into school and meet me in order to share their views on what Meadow does well and how we can be even better, as well as sharing some of my ideas about the future of our school as we move towards two sites from September 2026.

I wish you all a great week ahead.

Kind regards

Mr Cunningham
Headteacher

Celebrating 30 Years

Meadow High School will be taking part in Jeans for Genes day 2025 on Monday 22nd September to celebrate 30 years of Jeans for Genes Foundation.

1 in 25 children in the UK are living with a genetic condition. Therefore, we will be fundraising by hosting a Non-Uniform Day and encouraging everyone to dress top to toe in their best denim!

If you would like to support this fundraising event, you can donate directly via the Jeans for Genes website.

Hilllingdon Parent Carers Forum

Hillingdon Parent Carers Forum is a voluntary group, funded by the Department for Education, that works alongside the Local Authority, NHS, and other groups to help shape services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Hillingdon. Each local authority has its own parent carer forum, and we are committed to ensuring the voices of parents and carers are heard and considered in decision-making.

Nicola Barton, Chair of Hillingdon Parent Carers Forum (HPCF), would like to take the opportunity to introduce the forum and extend an invitation to parents at Meadow High School.

The forum regularly gathers feedback from parents and carers on various issues and provides a valuable service by signposting families to appropriate resources and support. The best way they achieve this is by engaging with as many parent carers as possible, so they can understand the challenges families face, celebrate successes, and learn from what works well in the community.

Hillingdon PCF hosts an annual, free event for SEND families in the area. This year’s event is taking place this coming Saturday, and they would love for as many families as possible to attend.

The Theatre - Have You Given It A Go?

Oh!  The theatre darling!

One of those places which seemed worthy, but which I never visited.  Until I went along to one of Pastiches' shows a few years back, and then I kicked myself for missing out all this time!

Pastiche (search for "Pastiche Musical Theatre" on Facebook) put on the most amazing fun, joyous, sad and surprising musicals at the Compass Theatre in Ickenham, next to the tube station.

They rehearse at Meadow and the money raised from their shows goes to a charity - this time it's coming to us at Friends or Meadow.

The current production is "Musical Mayhem".  It will be musical.  There will be mayhem.  For more than that, see Facebook.

So many good reasons to break your theatre drought if you've always wanted to see a show, or to go along if you're a regular enjoyer of the arts.

The show's suitable for all the family, the occasional "adult theme" may be thrown in but nothing too risqué. It would suit most of our pupils, but it can be loud, there will be lighting effects and some dry ice, so be aware if your child has particular sensory sensitivities.  Perfect behaviour is not required from the audience, that suits us too!

If you want to join a group going from Meadow on the Thursday drop me a message.  If you want to avoid us then I recommend the Friday or Saturday.  Emoji
