Issue 10 - Friday 18 November 2022

Dear Families,

Thank you for supporting the school and your children to observe Children in Need day today.  In financially difficult times we are very grateful that families still feel able to support this great charity.  We will let you know the total we raised next week!

If you receive a letter about a school trip or activity that requires payment, please remember that most of these are voluntary contributions to help us cover the cost of the trip. It is why we are able to run so many trips and visits from the school. No child would ever be stopped from participating if you are only able to contribute some or none of the cost.

If you find you are really struggling, please consider contacting our Welfare Team as they may be able to help or sign post you to organisations that can.

Also, don't forget that every child can have free breakfast at school. Half a bagel, a bowl of cereal or porridge and if your child is in receipt of Free School Meals they can also access tuck shop for free.

We hope that every little helps!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mrs J Rigby
Headteacher

Children In Need Day TODAY

Pupils and Staff held a non-uniform day today, wore their PJs,  held a cake sale and a lunchtime dance off.   Lots of fun was had.   All donations and monies raised will go the BBC Children In Need Appeal.

We hope to bring you some photos next week.

Thank you everyone for your support with this event.

New Mini Bus

We are lucky enough to have generously received a new Variety minibus in preparation for Pathway 1's move to the new site. The bus was generously sponsored by Geoff and Fioana Squires who presented this to Meadow High School this week. The bus will enable students to have a broad curriculum, with lots of opportunities to practise our new skills in the wider community. After the presentation they joined Mrs Rigby, Miss Willis and Teddy for a tour of the school, particularly enjoying the Anzac biscuits being prepared by Year 11.

Many thanks to Geoff and Fiona for their generous donation.

Dear Parent/Carers

Firstly, thank you for your support with attendance. A small reminder that If your child has a medical appointment during school hours, we require evidence.

Letters have been sent out to all families in regards to our new holiday club we will be offering. We have decided to use PSD who specialise in running holiday camps and after-school clubs for children. A reminder of the sessions being offered:

  • Session 1:   Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February 2023 (Half term)
  • Session 2:   Monday 3rd - Thursday 6th April 2023 (Easter holidays)

Summer Holidays:

  • Session 3:  1st week of summer holiday: 24th - 28th July 2023
  • Session 4:  2nd week of summer holiday: 31st July - 4th August 2023
  • Session 5:  3rd week of summer holiday: 7th - 11th August 2023

Each day will run from 9:00 am - 3:00pm.  You can book for any sessions that interest you.

The cost of the February half-term dates and the Easter dates are £26.00 per child, per day but these must be booked for all days offered in that session.  If you receive free school meals, the cost is £15.00 per day per child, again all days in session must be booked.

The cost for the Summer Camp this year will be £130 per week for each pupil, unless you are eligible for Free School Meals, then the cost will be £75.00 per week per child. We feel this offers excellent value for money as the hourly cost is under £4 an hour.

If you haven’t filled in and returned the form but would be interested in any of the sessions, please email me urgently at welfare@meadowhighschool.org.  Bookings will shortly be offered and we will send out the information to all those interested.

We have been lucky to secure a regular monthly clinic with DASH.  These clinics will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, with the exception of January which will be head on the 10th January.

The clinic dates are as follows:

10/01/23

7/02/23

Appointments will be allocated on a first come first serves basis.

Dash can support with lots of issues including benefits, housing, cost of living crisis and much more.

If you would like an appointment please email me kbentley@meadowhighschool.org with you name, child’s name, child’s school year, contact number and reason for appointment.  I will then contact you with an allocated date and time.

Coffee Morning 09/12/2022

We have been lucky enough to have PSD (Holiday and after school club specialists), to come to our coffee morning on the 9th December.  The coffee morning will be open from parents after drop off and will run until 11.  PSD will be telling you about them and what they can provide for you child.  They will be here to answer any questions about holiday club you may have.

Medical

At this time of year, we expect lots of coughs and colds to be around.  If your child is well enough to be in school, please send them in.  If your child has a fever or is unwell, please call the school EVERYDAY they are absence to inform us.  Colds and coughs can be managed at school, and we would always contact parents if a child is not well enough to be at school

If you have any questions concerning Welfare or attendance please contact the welfare team on welfare@meadowhighschool.org

The Welfare Team.

A big thank you for all the orders we've received so far for the Friends of Meadow Christmas Shop.

  • the shop will run on Tuesday 6 December, in school, where pupils pay for and collect their items.
  •

Wrappers needed!
While it's great so many gifts have been ordered, we're going to need to wrap them all.  ??

If you're handy with the sellotape and scissors and can be in school on Thursday 1st December between 9am and 11am please come along and we'll have a big wrapping session.  If you can let me know you're coming, via Classlist or at goodbodyjg@yahoo.co.uk so much the better.

REQUEST FOR SUPPORT FROM
GIVE AND SHARE

(charity supporting local families)

Well it’s nearly “the most wonderful time of the year” and again we are calling on our lovely community. So many of you have helped us for the last few years  but we know this year will be very different for many of us, and we understand this, but we still have loads of families needing help, actually even more so this year. So with this in mind if you are able to put maybe one extra item a week in your basket that will be such a big help.

Below you will see a list of the items we include in our boxes, if you can help with donating anything we would be very grateful. Remember your gifts help many families that otherwise would struggle during this holiday time.

PRESENT LIST

This year again we will be asking for specific items for our gift boxes. We decided this as it will reduce unusable gifts ( wrong ages, likes, ability) and help us to spread the boxes further.

Here are the items we would like to collect.

  • Tins of chocolates ( Quality Street, Heroes, Celebrations, Roses)
  • Sweets ( Haribo Type)
  • Family biscuit boxes

  • Mince pies & Christmas cake
  • Twiglets, Pringles, Family share bags of Crisps etc
  • Hot chocolate
  • Marshmallows

If you wish to donate but getting out is difficult for you, we would be very grateful of Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s and Asda Vouchers, alternatively we set up an updated Amazon Wish List set up on our Facebook Group. The vouchers and any Cash donated will be used to buy items we need to complete boxes prior to delivery. I’m sorry, but we ask for only these three stores vouchers, so we can do a big shop rather than visit lots of different stores.

OUR PRE ARRANGED COLLECTION POINTS ARE;

  • Smiths Garden Centre, New Denham.
  • Bites Sandwich Bar, New Denham.
  • Iver Flowerland, Iver.
  • Croxley Hardware, Croxley Green.

Lastly Thank you all so much for your continued help, let's spread a little love this Christmas to those who need it most ?????? ?? ??
