Weekly Bulletin - Issue 35 - Friday 25 June 2021

Issue 35 - Friday 25 June 2021

Dear Families,

Today we have had our Leavers' Assembly, where we said a fond farewell to those who are transitioning on from Meadow.  Every year, when we reflect back on the personal journeys these young men and women have made, I feel so proud of each and every one of them.  Proud of their achievements and their personal growth, proud of their readiness to take on new challenges and proud of the independence they have achieved.

You will hopefully have heard us talk about 'Life after Meadow'.  What this means for us as a community is that, from the moment a pupil transitions to Meadow, we are thinking about how we can best prepare them to leave us!  This is not to wish our time with them away, but because we know the best job we can do for our young people is to prepare them for the World.

Someone once said to me 'Sometimes it can feel like our children are square pegs in a round hole and the best we can do for them is not to try and make the World squarer, but them a bit rounder!'  This really resonates with me.  As parents and professionals we have to balance the difficult task of protecting our young people whilst preparing them and challenging them so that they can participate as fully as possible in the World around them.

Well done class of 2021.  We wish you happiness in all that you do as we see you move into your 'Life after Meadow'.

Covid

We have had no positive cases of Covid in our community since the last bulletin.

However, we do now have several pupils and staff who are having to isolate due to contact with people outside school who have tested positive for Covid.  This has increased and, therefore, I ask that you continue to administer twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests for your child to ensure we keep Covid out of the school.  We have noted that families are not asking for resupply of kits, which leads me to believe that many of you may have stopped testing.  We will be sending kits home to all families where the pupil is registered for home testing and would encourage families who have not taken up this offer to contact the school or give permission via the online permission form.

Build

Very soon the build team will be moving their welfare units and offices to the main school car park in preparation for it to become their new builder's yard.  We will be sending out details of the new routes into school for pedestrians and would remind parents that they cannot come on site in a vehicle if ANY transport vehicles are on site. This is generally between 8.30-9.30am and 2.30-3.30pm.

May I wish you all a happy and healthy weekend.

Very best wishes,

Mrs J Rigby
Headteacher

 Infinity Explorer Scout Group

On Friday 18th June, 7 Students at Meadow High School were invested into the Infinity Explorer Scout Group, made of students with a range of Scouting experiences. The 7 will spend the next few weeks in preparation to start their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh.

Keep a close eye out for them helping around the School and supporting as young leaders during 8th Hillingdon Scouts sessions.

Sixth Form Transition Breakfast

On Thursday, another Transition Breakfast took place in the Sixth Form Common Room.  Year 11s who will go up to Sixth Form next year visited and were able to chat to current pupils about what it is like to be in the Sixth Form.  It was great to see all the students engaging enjoying breakfast together whilst taking part in a Q&A session.
