Issue 27 - Friday 19 April 2024

Dear Families

We are delighted to introduce some new members of staff to you.

We are pleased to welcome Miss Sohun who has joined us as the Assistant Headteacher for Years 10 and 11. She is a very experienced SEND teacher and has leadership experience in a local SEND school. This week she has met all the pupils and staff in Years 10/11 and is busy building relationships with them. Please look out for a coffee morning invitation where you as family members can meet Miss Sohun.

We have created a new post of Annual Review Lead to enable us to coordinate and schedule annual reviews across the year, as well as monitoring the updates to EHCPs.  Mrs Sandhu joins us in this role from a local borough. We welcome her to the school, and she will be introducing herself to you over the coming weeks.

Mental Health Workshops

Yesterday saw the start of a series of Mental Health workshops for all pupils being provided by 4YoungMinds. These sessions look at a range of wellbeing topics to build confidence, resilience and improve young people's understanding of their mental health. This is with the intention of helping pupils to:
  • Manage their emotional wellbeing

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Develop healthy coping mechanisms

  • Improve their relationships with others

  • Improve their attitude to learning

  • Learn how & where to access support

More sessions will take place next week so don't worry if your child hasn't attended yet!

It looks like the weather will be brighter and warmer this weekend, so I hope you can all get out and enjoy the Spring air!

Kind regards

Mrs J Rigby
Headteacher

A-Life Healthy Living Workshop

and lots more.

Quotes from some of the pupils who attended.

" I enjoyed putting the skeleton together".

" I learnt about foods from around the World."

" I enjoyed sorting and organising food into their food groups".

" I found it interesting watching and learning about different types of exercises".

"I really enjoyed looking at all of the activities and discussing the importance of healthy living with my class".
