Weekly Bulletin - Issue 36 - Friday 24 June 2022

Issue 36 - Friday 24 June 2022

Dear Families

I hope some of you have been joining in with our National Sports Week challenges. We are also looking forward to our Sports Week starting next Monday.  As you may remember, we altered how we ran our Sports day during the pandemic and, like many aspects of life, we reflected that some of the changes were actually very positive, and we have made them permanent.

It was lovely to see some of you on Tuesday, when you came to look through your child's books, folders and work.  There is another opportunity to do this next Tuesday 28th June and, of course, you can always contact your child's form tutor at any point to discuss your child's progress, or to arrange a meeting regarding any aspect of their education.

Miss Taylor kindly ran a whole school Pride Assembly on Wednesday with members of our Skittles Club.  I was very proud of the young people who took part and their willingness to be open about themselves.  We know that some pupils, due to their faith or beliefs may have different views about gender and sexuality.  Assemblies such as this do not aim to change these views, but rather they seek to ensure that we learn, develop and exhibit the essential British value of tolerance.

Very best wishes to you all for a lovely weekend.

Mrs J Rigby
Headteacher

PROM 2022
(Year 11 - 14)

Prom 2022 - 'A Night Under the Stars'
Prom is back, and it's time to celebrate our amazing Year 11 - 14 students, and we are all getting very excited!  Over the last few years, all of us have met challenges we never thought we'd have to face; at school our wonderful students have had to show real grit and determination, courage and kindness to achieve their goals.  Prom is a chance for all of us to recognise this and an opportunity for them to have a great time with their friends!

Where:  Meadow High School
When:   Thursday 14th July 2022  7.30pm - 10.00pm
Cost:   £8.00
( to be paid via Parent Pay - any problems please contact your child's Form Tutor)

We have spoken to the students and tried to include as many of their favourite things as possible.  The ticket price includes a 3 course meal, a disco and a few other little surprises too!

Photographs: There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos on the night. We will respect parent choices about use of photos on our website, if you do not want your child to be in any photographs with friends please contact your child’s Form Tutor.

Would you like our help to get ready?
Miss Lennon’s Salon will be open again this year, if your child would like support with hair and/or nails to help them feel fabulous on the night please tick the box on the slip on the letter sent home (copy below) and we will contact you to arrange a suitable time – first come, first served!
Mrs. Hamilton's Prom Shop is open too and ready to help with some really fabulous dresses and suits to hire. The hire cost is £3.00 to cover laundry expenses, if your child would like to come and look please tick the box on the slip.

Tickets are on sale NOW! Your child should have brought home a letter on Tuesday with all the details you need to know and a reply slip to complete.  Please note  Tickets must be bought in advance to help us plan and prepare.

We hope very much that as many students as possible attend as the evening is a celebration of their shared experiences at Meadow High School and the journey they have all been on together.

STOP PRESS: Room 22 have stepped into the breach to provide entertainment for the evening !

Give and Share are the charity who have supported the school many times and have provided hampers of goodies to some of our families.     The band Room 22 have stepped in to provide the entertainment for the evening.      Room 22 originated from three staff members at Meadow, so we know they will provide great entertainment for the evening.   Proceeds will be shared between Give and Share and the Stroke Association.

Taxis and Minicabs

- Taxis: only taxis (black cabs) can be stopped in the street. They look like purpose-built taxis with an illuminated sign on the roof

- Minicabs: must be pre-booked by phone, email or in person at the minicab office.

The driver should have ID and the vehicle should have a licence displayed on it.

- Minicabs that pick up fares on the street, without being pre-booked are illegal and uninsured and could put you at risk of sexual assault or robbery.
