Issue 16 - Friday 12 January 2024

Dear Families

May I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

Vacancies

For those of you who are working in education or who have friends or family who are, or who want to work in education, please be aware that we advertise for our vacancies on  https://crinklerecruitment.com/ and https://www.tes.com/jobs/ .  We also add our job vacancies to the bottom of this bulletin and on the school website here.

I have included this information as we will soon be advertising several posts over the coming months including:
  • Teaching Assistants;
  • Assistant Head for Years 10 and 11 at Royal Lane;
  • Assistant Head for Inclusion at Northwood Road;
  • two Team Leaders for Northwood Road;
  • various teaching posts
  • and a Compliance role.
Assembly

This week we learned about the RNLI because it is the 200th anniversary of the organisation. I also took this as an opportunity to talk about water safety, and we watched the 'Float to Live' video created by the RNLI.  You may want to watch this with your child and practice floating the next time you go to the pool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgASxPh-xqU

Cold Weather

Winter has well and truly arrived! We always seek to give pupils some fresh air at break times, and we would ask that families ensure their child has a warm winter coat, hat and gloves as the wind can be very cutting at this time of year.  Where we do not feel a child has suitable clothing on a very cold day, they will be directed to the Library and the class team will contact you.  For those children who don't want to be outside in cold weather, the Library is open every breaktime for them to read, play games, relax and socialise.

If we have severe weather you can access information on our website, under the parent section (PARENTS/SEVERE WEATHER).  I have also included it below.

Severe Weather

For your information our severe weather contingency is as follows:

  1. If schools transport are unable to collect your child, please telephone the school and leave a message.   School Telephone number is 01895 443310.

  2. If school is closed to pupils, then this will be posted on the front page of this website and a message will be on the school answer phone.   Text(s) will also be sent home to update parents.

  3. If schools transport are not able to bring your child home, please ensure you are contactable in case we need to ask you to collect your child.  School Transport number is 01895 250008.

IN THE CASE OF SEVERE WEATHER:

UPDATES WILL BE POSTED ON THE NEWS/LATEST NEWS SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE AND ON THE TOP OF  THE FRONT/HOMEPAGE

TEXTS WILL ALSO BE SENT HOME TO UPDATE PARENTS.

Class SM and AP Trip To Whipsnade Zoo

Class SM and AP embarked on an awe-inspiring adventure at Whipsnade Zoo, filled with excitement and discovery despite the cold weather! They greeted curious crocodiles, made friends with gentle camels, marvelled at the colourful fluttering butterflies, and were captivated by the charming antics of the playful penguins. The highlight? Their sheer amazement diving into the aquatic world and encountering an array of fascinating fish species.

These snapshots beautifully capture the excitement and joy from our unforgettable day of exploration!
