Issue 9 - Friday 10 November 2023

Dear Families

As you know we were inspected by Ofsted this week. We should receive our draft report in approximately 18 working days.  We then have 5 working days to comment, and then it will be up to a further 30 working days when we receive our final report.

This was a Section 8 inspection which is classed as 'ungraded'. I tell you this because you won't see a detailed report when it is published. This means that the school remains good.

I would like to extend my thanks to our wonderful pupils, many of whom completed the pupil survey giving mature and useful feedback. Additionally, many pupils read to inspectors, took part in lesson observations or pupil feedback groups.  Both inspectors thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the pupils and were impressed at their excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and passion for learning.

Thank you to families who either completed the questionnaire on the Ofsted Parent Portal or who spoke to inspectors in person.  Your feedback was extremely useful, and I have taken a few points away to consider issues that were raised.

I look forward to seeing some of you in school tomorrow if your child has their annual review.

May I wish you all a very safe and happy weekend and to all our families who are celebrating Diwali

Year 8 - Visit to Whipsnade Zoo

Year 8's all went to Whipsnade Zoo on Monday as part of their learning on Frozen and Desert landscapes in Geography.

The weather was very kind to us, albeit a little chilly.

Students reported that 'It's so cool here', 'I have never seen a camel so close before' and 'I never knew that elephants were really living'.

PS. No students were harmed in the taking of these photos!

Class JE Visit to Whipsnade Zoo

Class JE (Pathway 1) went to Whipsnade Zoo on Thursday 9th November. We enjoyed looking at all of the animals from Asia, Africa and Europe, and we will be writing about them in our English writing coursework towards our Entry Level certificates. We particularly enjoyed looking at the giraffes, elephants and penguins. We could drive close to the stags and deer to get good pictures!
