Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to the Summer Term after what I hope was a well-earned and enjoyable Easter break with your family and friends. A busy term lays ahead of us and, as always, I will use the bulletin, my video blog, as well as the parent coffee morning scheduled for this term as the main means of keeping you up to date.
This week we held a Parents' Evening, and it was good to see so many of you attending school in person to speak to your child’s teachers and to see first hand the progress they have made this year. I have asked staff to email and call home to parents who were unable to attend this event so we can gather feedback as to why you were unable to attend, so we can make any adjustments next year.
The next few weeks sees the start of the Summer Exam season. I know how hard students have been working for their unit awards, entry levels and GCSE examinations in a range of subjects. The exams team will share further details with your child and you where necessary. Please remember that in the summer, students will be welcome to collect their exam results in person on results day. I will be writing to those with results to collect, with the details of this. I would urge students to come in to collect their results so they can celebrate their achievements and ensure they get appropriate advice about their next steps.
This term we will be ensuring we are fully ready to operate over two sites from September. I will be writing to you shortly explaining the arrangements for the end of this academic year and the start of the next one. We will also be completing our reorganisation of student groupings and the curriculum ready for September, and we will be working closely with transport and other partners to ensure this is as smooth as possible.
Aside from this, we have two other foci this term and I have outlined these below:
1) Teaching & Learning - we will be working hard as a staff on how we adjust our teaching approach with a changing cohort and new curriculum from September
2) Student behaviour - we will be working hard to implement the findings of the behaviour review we held before Easter. This will mainly focus on students remaining in lessons and the consistent use of appropriate language.
Further details on this will be outlined in the letter I referred to above.
The term ahead promises to be intense and busy but also highly exciting as we build towards our One School Two Sites vision from next academic year.
As always, I look forward to working with you for the benefit of all the young people in our school.
Kind regards
Graham Cunningham
Headteacher

Monday 27 April - Friday 8 May
Scholastic Book Fayre
As part of our celebrations for the National Year of Reading 2026, we are very excited to announce that from Monday 27th April to Friday 8th May we will be running a Scholastic Book Fair in our Library!
The Scholastic Book Fair is a pop-up celebration of reading that puts the very best books directly into your child’s hands, all while raising rewards to spend on free books and essential resources for our school. For every sale made, Meadow High School will receive FREE rewards that we can use for even more resources for our students.

To provide an opportunity for you to visit the Book Fair with your child, we will be hosting two parent coffee afternoons on
Tuesday 28th April 1.40pm - 2.40pm
Thursday 30th April 1.40pm - 2.40pm
You will be able to meet with other parents and also choose from the fantastic books on offer. We have made sure that there will be a wider selection of picture books this time. As previously, payment can be made via card, using a QR code we will provide at the fair.
If you would like to join us for one of the sessions, please complete the slip in the letter sent home and return as soon as possible. If you would like to collect your child at the end of the session please ensure you tick the relevant box. Please note that there is no on-site parking - if there is a particular need, please contact your child’s form tutor.
If you have any questions, please contact our Librarian, Miss S Gaafar, on sgaafar@meadowhighschool.org.

Thank you to all who supported and attended the Pathway 1 Eid celebration last term. The donations from families were very generous. We truly appreciate your time and continued support for the pupils and school. I still have one silver dish missing a home so please contact the school if it is yours (see photo).
Many thanks,

Friends of Meadow
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- More Fun Than It Sounds
Friends of Meadow, our parent, carer and staff association, is having its AGM at 11am in school on Wednesday 13th May. All parents, carers and staff are welcome to come along.
It is an AGM so there are some formalities to go through which are not necessarily riveting. However, don't stop reading... it's a chance to discuss our plans for the year, get to know new people around the school.
If you would like to attend and could drop an email to meadow@meadowhighschool.org so we have some idea of numbers that would be useful, but even if you don't, feel free to turn up on the day.
John Goodbody
Secretary, Friends of Meadow

Our Sixth form students have been working incredibly hard over the past 12 weeks as part of their supported Vocational Pathways programme at HS2.
Yesterday marked the successful completion of the programme, where students were presented with certificates in recognition of their dedication and achievements.
A huge well done to all the students involved – you should be very proud of your efforts.

Fantastic Football Tournament
I would like to take a moment to recognise the students who took part in the football fixture during the last week of last term. They demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout, showing resilience, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of fair play. They followed the rules of the game consistently, handled incidents maturely, and ensured the experience was fair and enjoyable for all.
In addition, their commitment to learning and developing their skills was outstanding. The effort they put into the tournament was clear, and they showed great determination when facing challenges and adversity.
As a group, these students embodied the values we promote at Meadow, particularly within PE and team games: fair play, respect, kindness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It was fantastic to see these values reflected so clearly in their performance and conduct.
I would like to highlight a few individual contributions:
- Dylan demonstrated excellent leadership as captain.
- Charlie showed great resilience and was nominated Player of the Match by the team.
- Elissa displayed strong defensive skills, consistently stopping attacks and creating scoring opportunities.
- Colby and Harrison worked exceptionally well together, showing teamwork and resolving challenges effectively during gameplay.
- Ty showed excellent motivation, even when facing setbacks.
- Kaniz demonstrated strong communication and encouragement throughout the game.
It was an excellent fixture and a great way to round off the term !
Well done everyone !
