Weekly Bulletin - Issue 10 - Thursday 11 November 2021

Issue 10 - Thursday 11 November 2021

Dear Families

Thank you for your tolerance with all the chopping and changing of dates recently.

Covid

We have had three confirmed cases of covid in our community since the last bulletin. With the colder, darker days please continue to complete 2 lateral flow test per week and encourage your child to wash their hands regularly.

New Build

This is the last bulletin I will write from our old 1966 building. Staff have been busy packing up resources, and we have currently filled over 450 crates to move into our new building.  This weekend Pickfords are coming in with our Site Team to move everything to the new locations, and we are all excited to move into the building on Monday.

We will get ready to welcome pupils back on Thursday 18th November, on which day we will be Tutor Group based for the morning to allow pupils to become familiar with the new building; where the toilets are, where the exits and fire escapes are and where their lessons will take place. We expect a week or so of pupils learning all these new places before they are totally comfortable and familiar.

Staff have prepared pupils and will continue to support them throughout this changeover period.

I have re-shared the layout of the new building should you be interested.

The next phase is the demolition of the old school, the refurbishment of our Library, Art, DT and Science rooms, the building of the Sports Hall and changing rooms and the completion of the outdoor works.  All of which should be finished by Summer 2022!

Agreed places for Key Worker children

For those of you who have contacted the school regarding a place for your child during the school closure, you should have been contacted regarding all the arrangements. For any further queries please contact lcarter@meadowhighschool.org

May I wish you all a very extended weekend with your children, and we look forward to seeing them all on Thursday 18th.

Headteacher

Thursday 11th November marks Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Britain since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

On Thursday, our Sixth Form History Group took the tube up to Westminster to visit the Cenotaph.  We paid our respects by wearing our poppies and observing the  two-minute silence. Our Sixth Formers showed great maturity and empathy on the trip.

Well done!

Children in Need Day
Friday 19 November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

We will be having a non-uniform day on Friday 19th November to raise awareness for Children in Need. Students should dress up in pyjamas or other comfortable clothes.

There will also be various activities for pupils in their classrooms. We will also be having our fun virtual assembly.

Donations will be split between Children in Need and this year’s school charity, Steel Bones. To donate to these causes, either send your child in with donations of money, or use Parent Pay to give electronically.

If donating online, click this link - https://app.parentpay.com/ParentPayShop/Foc/Default.aspx?shopid=5031

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Mayall
6th Form Tutor
Life & Living Lead

9KK have been learning about using money in a practical setting.

They have been practising adding up amounts and finding change. The pupils were also learning about budgeting, they had £10 to spend and had to decide what they wanted from the menu within that price and then calculate how much change they would receive.

We had a great time!!
