Weekly Bulletin - Issue 25 - Friday 20 March 2026

Meadow High School
Weekly Bulletin

Issue 25 -  Friday 20 March 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

Another week ticked off and now only one week to go until the end of the Spring Term.  This week you should all have received a letter outlining the proposals for your child from September and whether they will be going to Northwood Road or remaining on site at Royal Lane.  As I mentioned in my talk last week, this is the start of the process, and we want to work with you on this.  My slides from the parent information session are also available on the school website, so please take a look.

This week we celebrated Comic Relief, an important event that raises key funds for local, national and international charities.  This event ties closely to our school values, and I am delighted we were able to support it.

Last week, we also invited Governors into school to look at the school strategy for the next five years and to also meet staff and students to hear first hand of their experiences.  They were impressed with what they saw, especially around phonics and reading and the quality of learning in the classrooms and use of ICT by teachers and students.  This invaluable experience will feed into our School Development Planning for the next few years.

Another aspect of our practice we are looking at is how we manage student behaviour.  I am sure you will have read in the news headlines around this topic, and we want to ensure we are always on top of this element of our work.  At the heart of this are strong relationships in the school.  On 26 March we will be inviting a company, Positive Regard, into school to work with us on this already strong aspect of our work to ensure we continue to develop it.  I will share the findings with you in a future bulletin.

Can I also remind you that on the last day of term, school will finish at 1pm for students.  This was communicated earlier in the term.  This is to bring us in line with other schools in the local area.

Finally, I know many of our community celebrated Eid this week, and we acknowledged this festival in our assemblies.  I hope that for those families who celebrate this event, your child enjoyed their day off and that you were able to celebrate as a family.    Eid Mubarak !

Kind regards

Mr G Cunningham
Headteacher

On Tuesday, year 8 visited the Shri Swaminarayan Hindu temple in Neasden. We got to see the beautiful marble mandir, the huge hall and were able to experience a lovely ceremony. All the students were extremely well-behaved and respectful and were a credit to our school.

Wize-Up
Money Management Sessions

Over the past few weeks, some of our Year 14 students have been taking part in our Wize-Up sessions, which focus on building important life skills around money management.

These sessions are designed to help students develop a better understanding of how to manage their finances as they prepare for life beyond school. So far, students have been learning about the basics of budgeting, including how to track income and spending, plan ahead, and make informed financial decisions.

The students have responded very positively to the sessions and have been enjoying the opportunity to discuss real-life financial situations and practical strategies for managing money. It has been encouraging to see them engaging thoughtfully with the topics and developing skills that will support their independence in the future.

Faculty Leader, Vocational
