Meadow High School
Weekly Bulletin

Issue 26 -  Friday 27 March 2026

Reminder that today is the last day of term.
School finishes at 1pm today.

We hope you enjoy the school holiday.

Summer Term starts on Tuesday 14 April at 9am.

Dear Parents and Carers

The Spring Term has ended and what a busy one it has been.  This half-term alone we have had Careers Week, World Book Day, celebrated Comic Relief Day and also Eid as a community.  There have also been countless trips to local places of interest.

This week we have conducted a behaviour review.  This will help us gather the views of staff and students about reward and behaviour as we seek to shape our code of conduct and systems ahead of our move to two sites from September.  I will share the main points with you after the Easter break.

Our last day of the term has also enabled us to celebrate the successes of our students in our reward assemblies.  It has been great to celebrate student successes across all their subjects as well as recognising excellence and improvement in attendance,  and serving the school and wider community.

Our move towards One School Two Sites also achieved a significant milestone last week.  The frame of the building is now completed, as is the roof and bricks are now being laid alongside some internal walls being erected.

Miss Willis will give a full update on the Northwood Road section of the new website.

Finally, I would like to wish all of you an enjoyable Easter Break.  I look forward to seeing you all again in the Summer, when school returns for students on 14 April.

Kind regards

Mr G Cunningham

Meadow High School Governing Body are recruiting a Parent Governor

Can you help shape the future of our school?

We need parents of pupils registered at the school to make a difference in our school’s community by volunteering to become parent governors. Currently, we have one vacancy for a parent governor on the governing body.

Your voice as a parent is very important to our school, and it is vital that the governing body has good representation by our parents among its membership.

Information about the role

Once elected or appointed for a term of four years, a parent governor takes on the role of a school governor, a public volunteer. All governors are equal, no category of governor is any more important or influential than any other. Parent governors exercise a strategic parental voice on the governing body.

We are seeking a parent who has a real willingness to help, who can listen carefully, read important documents, ask questions, attend training and be able to actively contribute at meetings.

If you can spare approximately ten hours or more a month then please consider nominating yourself for this interesting voluntary role.

The governing body is particularly seeking applicants with experience in the Health, Human Resources and buildings/health & safety sector/background.

I have included more details on the role of governors on the school website (Our School / Governors / Governor Vacancies) as well as how to apply and the nomination forms.   Please read this as it is important to understand the role, expectations and commitment before applying.

Deadline for receiving nominations:

Monday 13 April 2026 - 3pm

Nomination forms can be posted in the box in school reception or emailed to:

Mr R Carpenter - Clerk to Governors
rcarpenter@meadowhighschool.org

Attendance - Winners !

Our Attendance Competition between classes has commenced, in which the class with the highest fortnightly attendance is awarded with the Attendance Trophy.

{item_alt_tag}

This week the trophy was awarded within Pathway 1 and the results are:

1st place:            Class EC with 99.3%
Joint 2nd place: Class ZH and
                             Class RS with 98.8%
3rd place:           Class GW with 96.4%

Well done to class EC and all of our pupils who are doing their best to be in school every day!

If your child is suffering from sickness or other NHS-advised illnesses, we support their need to stay at home and recover. Please refer to https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/ if in doubt, and rest assured that our Welfare Team will assess your child and contact you if we consider them too unwell to be in school.

Being around teachers and friends in a school environment is the best way for pupils to learn and reach their potential. Time in school also keeps children safe and provides access to extra-curricular opportunities and pastoral care. Every moment in school counts. For example, a child who is absent for three days over half a term could miss 18 hours of learning. The higher a pupil’s attendance, the more they are likely to learn and build their social skills, ready for a more successful future.

It’s important that we work together as a community to support the attendance of all our pupils and we continue to welcome your communication if there is anything you would like to discuss regarding this. In the first instance, please speak to your child’s Form Tutor or contact Miss Kelliher: attendance@meadowhighschool.org

The Spy Who Came in
from the Cold

by John le Carre

& read by
Mr. Cunningham

This story is for some of our older students.  It is an extract from a classic spy novel by an amazing writer. Spy, Alec Leamas, is tired. It's the 1960s, he's been out in the cold for years, spying in the shadow of the Berlin Wall for his British masters. He has seen too many good agents lose their life for their troubles. Now Control wants to bring him in at last - but only after one final assignment...

Class GW Trip

On Tuesday 24th March, class GW visited BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, popularly known as the ‘Neasden Temple.

We were given a tour when we arrived and commented on the beautiful craftsmanship of the buildings.

Afterwards, we all went to the shop next door to buy some Indian vegetarian snacks and devoured them.

The children loved every minute of the trip and wanted to go back again another time.

They were exemplary and a credit to Meadow High School.

KS Class - Airport Bowling Trip

On Tuesday, KS class went to Airport Bowl as part of their, ‘Out In The Community’ lessons. The students were able to work together and cheer each other on when they were winning spares and strikes. After our game we went to the restaurant and each student ordered and paid for a drink and snack. This was enjoyed by all. Well done everyone. ??????
