Issue 20 -  Friday 6 February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

An amazing couple of weeks at Meadow High School.  On 26th & 27th January we had our Peer Review.  Over the two days, we invited colleagues from other local schools to observe our practice and immerse themselves in what we do.  There were lots of positives noted by the review team.  Those listed below are some of the examples but by no means are they all:

  1. Students feel safe in school and know who to talk to if they ever feel unsafe.
  2. Relationships between staff and students and the students themselves.
  3. Staff have a strong knowledge of their students.
  4. Therapy is used well in lessons.
  5. Students are well-prepared for their next steps beyond school.

We will be discussing all of these points in school and acting upon them as we move forward towards two sites from September 2026.

Maths Week

This week we have been enjoying Maths Week.  Every class has prepared a stool to showcase their Maths skills and students have taken time to look at these and also to Belvedere Maths across the curriculum.  This week is crucial to highlight how Maths and numeracy encompasses every aspect of our lives.

The Enterprise Team have also been busy this week.  They held their Valentines Sale to raise funds for their company.  The event was well attended and lots of romantic products were sold to students and staff

I would also like to give parents advance notice of my next Coffee with the Headteacher morning.  This will be at 9am on 25th February held at Meadow High School.  In this session I will update you on what we have done since the coffee mornings in the Autumn Term, update you on our new build, feedback on the Peer review and listen to your comments about your children’s experiences.  Parents from either pathway and any year are welcome.

On Monday of this week we said farewell to Keri Walsh who leaves us to emigrate to Australia.  I would like to thank her for all her work and wish her every success for the future.  Her safeguarding and Welfare Role will be taken on by my Senior Team and the changes have been highlighted on our school website.

Finally, for this week, please can I remind all parents to collect their children promptly from school and, if they are running late, to contact us so we are aware and can adjust our plans accordingly.

Best regards

Mr G Cunningham

Meadow High School Hello Youtube Channel
– New story to enjoy !

Stick Man
by Julia Donaldson
read by Mrs. Daniels

This is one of our favourite stories here in school – we have been told that we needed to add it to our YouTube channel! “Stick Man lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three." But it's dangerous being a Stick Man. A dog wants to play with him, a swan builds her nest with him. He even ends up on a fire! Will he ever get back to the family tree?

Next Week
Monday 9 - Thursday 12 February
Is Children's Mental Health Week

Dear Parents and Carers,

Meadow High School will be recognising Children’s Mental Health Week by taking part in the Shine Bright, Wear Bright non-uniform day on Thursday 12th February 2026.

On this day, pupils are invited to wear their favourite colour or outfit to express how they are feeling. This can be as simple or as creative as they like. Shine Bright, Wear Bright is an opportunity to encourage self expression and celebrate a diverse range of emotions.

Throughout the week, pupils will be learning about mental health during assemblies and PSHCE lessons. This will provide an opportunity for everyone to be open, learn more, and help raise positive awareness within our school community.

If you would like to support this fundraising event, donations can be made directly via the CHUMS Charity website: https://chumscharity.org/sbwb26/

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Mistry
