Weekly Bulletin - Issue 17 - Friday 14 January 2022

Issue 17 - Friday 14 January 2022

Dear Parents

Hopefully Mrs Rigby will be back on Monday but in the meanwhile you have me again.

We have had a few additional cases of Covid in the school, but most of these absences have been staff.  We are a little short of staff across the school but doing our best to keep children in school and in education.  We have had a few 6th form classes who have not had TAs this week and I want to thank the pupils for being so mature and independent.

Please can families continue to use Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) to test pupils to help to keep our school open and our school community safe.  We have tests in school if you need any.  As of Tuesday this week a positive LFT does not need to be confirmed with a PCR test.  If pupils are double vaccinated and test negative on a LFT on day 6 and again on day 7 they can return to school if they are well on day 7.  If they have not had 2 vaccinations they need to self-isolate for the full 10 days and return on the 11th day.

On Monday the vaccination team are back in to offer pupils the vaccine.  Please return your forms if you want your child vaccinated.  The team need confirmation of this by Friday so if you see this and have not sent forms in you need to call the school on seeing this to let us know.  They will only bring the number of vaccines that are needed to the school on Monday.

Sadly, I also have to report that we have had some instances of bullying in school and on way home from school.  Please be assured that we are doing our best to stop this behaviour and will be putting in place Pupil Support Plans for pupils who have been involved in incidents.  These plans will be shared with families of pupils who are presenting with challenging behaviours.  If your child has a plan, and you wish to discuss this with school please phone to make an appointment. We would value your input and support.

Have a lovely weekend.

Deputy Headteacher

Non-Uniform Day - 25 January 2022
Steel Bones Walking Challenge

Dear parents/carers,

Throughout January, Meadow High School will be raising money for Steel Bones, a charity who support amputees. We would like to raise money for Steel Bones to commemorate a staff member’s amputation one year ago. On 25th January, students are asked to wear non-uniform clothes. The theme is heroes and people we look up to. We are asking for a voluntary donation of £1 which will be donated to Steel Bones.

Additionally, the whole school will be walking 365 miles across January as part of their class activities.

Students are invited to walk in their free time also. Tutors can be contacted to add any walking to our school record; let us know how many minutes of walking your child achieves, and we will add it to our total.

If you would like to donate, please make payment via ParentPay.

PLEASE MAKE ALL PAYMENTS VIA PARENTPAY.  IF YOU REQUIRE ACCOUNT DETAILS PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND ASK FOR PETER.

Many thanks,

Mrs K Mayall
6th Form Tutor
Life & Living Lead

Sixth Form France Trip
8-13 May 2022
- Update -

Dear parents/carers,

Sixth Form pupils have been offered an opportunity to participate in a school trip to France in May 2022.

The deadline to express their interest was Monday 8th January, and we have received some replies, however, we still have a few places left.  If you wish us to consider your child for this educational activity, please let us know by Monday 17th January 2022 (a copy of a letter that was sent home in December 2021 can be obtained from Mrs Fabisch or Miss Taylor or you can download and print it from the link below.

Due to the delay in responses, parents/carers of pupils who have already expressed their interest will be contacted by 24th January with an update.

Thank you very much.

Mrs Fabisch
Careers Lead / Deputy Head for KS5
