Issue 21 - Friday 13 February 2026
Reminder
Friday 13th is a Staff Training Day - School is CLOSED to pupils
Next week (16-20 February) is Half Term
Dear Parents and Carers
An eventful half-term draws to a close and looking back there have been some real highlights for us. Last week was Maths Week with the Maths Fair and the Enterprise Group held their Valentine's Sale. We have also had a significant number of trips, including the one on Monday this week when all of Pathway 1 went out of school for their Science Visit.
We have also had visits from external speakers, participated in sports fixtures, developed life skills through regular swimming and work experience. All of these are important aspects of education and sit strongly alongside quality first teaching and learning in all lessons. Since September, we have had 547 planned school visits and over 1600 educational experiences. There are a further 347 planned for the remainder of this term. I would like to thank all the staff for their commitment to these on behalf of our students.
We will shortly be receiving the names of the students who will be joining us in September. We are already planning for what life over two sites will look like, and I wanted to use the last bulletin of the half-term to update you.
The building is running on schedule and the steel frame and all the related infrastructure is in place on the roof and on the ground floor. Bricklaying has also started on site, and we will soon be able to see walls and the outline of the building in more detail. Over half-term, a lot of the work will be done to ensure we can access power and water on the site when we open.
We are working hard at school to look at how we will group the children across two sites, and we will communicate separately with all parents about this when we return after the half-term break. A growth in our intake also requires us to look at our therapy model and our curriculum and all staff are working hard on this. If you would like to know more about this, please come along to my next Parent Coffee Morning on 25th February at 9am.
Finally, for this edition can I thank all parents for their ongoing support around our drive on basics. We have worked hard alongside you to ensure students adhere to the school dress code and are arriving on time for school. Our attendance is 90%, sitting above the national figure for Special Schools. We are aspiring for 95% for all students, so we still have some way to go. Please can you support us by not booking holidays in term time and, wherever possible, making routine medical appointments or dental visits outside of school hours.
Mr G Cunningham
Headteacher

Thank You
Thank you to Mr Adams (parent of a student in 6MS) for your very kind donation of a new dart board for the 6th form students.
The site team set it up for us this week and the students will enjoy playing darts with staff supervision during lunchtime breaks.
The 6th Form Team.

Celebrating Reading and National Careers Week
This year collaborating with the Humanities Faculty
Theme: Exploring Our Local History + Celebrating MHS 60th Anniversary
We are always planning to make learning as engaging and fun as possible and prepare our students for life after Meadow High School. This year we are working with the Humanities Faculty to support our students to explore the history of our local area and also our school as we enter our 60th anniversary year. Meadow High School opened in 1966 and we know what happened at the World Cup – who knows, could this be a positive sign for the tournament this year?
We will be writing after half term to let you know more. For now we just wanted to give you a heads-up that we will be having a non-uniform day on Thursday 5th March [World Book Day]. The theme of World Book Day 2026 is Reading for Pleasure so students are welcome to dressed up in anything that connects with their favourite books, fiction or non-fiction. As it is also Careers Week, students may prefer to dress up in clothes that fit with their favourite job.

Pathway 1 - KS3 Trip
On Monday 9th February Key Stage 3 Pathway 1 pupils had an exciting trip to The Lookout Discovery Centre in Bracknell. All pupils behaved in such a mature manner and everyone had an amazing time. Pupils have been learning about the five senses in their Theme lessons and this trip allowed them to continue their learning outside the classroom with the wide variety of activities available at the centre.
Well done to all staff and pupils for making this trip a huge success!
Mr M Parker
Pathway 1 Teacher

Pathway 2 Trip - Year 7 and Year 10
Year 7 and year 10 went on a trip to St. John the Baptist Church in Hillingdon, where they learnt all about the features of a church. Both year groups asked and answered lots of interesting questions and enjoyed seeing a historical church for themselves to consolidate their learning.

Meadow Maths Fair
Last week's Maths Week and 'Meadow Maths Fair' were a great success. Students and staff produced fantastic, creative maths-themed stalls, each offering something unique. It was wonderful to see the whole school come together, supporting one another and working collaboratively to complete each challenge.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the event such an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Miss Le Page
Maths Faculty Leader

Here is what some of the pupils had to say about the day:
"Darts was a really good stall, I wish we could play it more!"
"The escape rooms were amazing! We all worked as a class to figure them out!"
"People said they really enjoyed our stall at Axe throwing, we had so many people wanting to come back to try again!"
