Dear Parents and Carers
The school year has drawn to a close and, as always, at Meadow it was a busy final week. It was great to see so many of you at our parent workshops on Monday, where we updated you on the curriculum and our plans for reporting next year. We were also able to share with you our plans to become a mobile phone-free school from September with all students handing devices in to teaching staff from the time they enter the school grounds. All of this helps us to deliver our belief that “Learning for Life’ is what we are here to deliver for our students.
This week we also held our Sports Day for Key Stage 5 and Post 16. As always, it was brilliant to see the high levels and standards of competition. I am really pleased that, despite the heat, we have managed to hold a sports-related event for all students this year. This event reinforced our values of Excellence and Achievement and the levels of sportsmanship reinforced our Dedication to each other.

Last week I also had the pleasure of attending the Year 10 Tea Party hosted by our Food Technology group. These two events were entirely catered by the students, and they also served as waiters at these themed events. This wonderful event clearly showed our Willingness to support our school community. This is another of our key values as a school.
|
|
|
|
I also had the privilege of joining our leavers at their Prom last Thursday. This is a significant event in the life of any young person as they leave school and celebrate this achievement with their friends and teachers. The students all looked amazing, and it was lovely to join them for their meal and disco. Photos will be shared on our website and social media channels.
Please remember that in the Summer, students who sat examinations in Entry Level Certificates and GCSE courses are invited into school on 20th August to collect these results in person. (Letters inviting those students have been sent). Staff will be on hand to advise and support students around next steps on this day. Students should arrive in the Main Hall from 10am. I would encourage them to take advantage of this so they can celebrate with us and gain that key advice.
As always at this time of year, we say goodbye to colleagues who have devoted a portion of their career to supporting our students. I would like to thank the staff listed below for their efforts and to wish them all the best for their future endeavours:

Finally, for this last edition of the school year, I would like to thank all parents for their support of the school over this year. On a personal level, I am also appreciative of how welcome you have made me feel as a new Headteacher and how fully you have engaged with the work we are trying to do as we move towards two sites from September and improve what we do for the benefit of students. I wish you all an enjoyable and restful summer and I look forward to continuing to work with you next year.

- One for our Home-School Agreement, which we have reviewed in light of our move to 2 campuses. All parents need to read and sign. Non-returns will be taken as an acceptance.
- Parent Survey - We value the views of our stakeholders and I know many of you have contributed to surveys and coffee mornings throughout the year. Annually, we always like to gauge parents/carers views on where they feel the school is at, this assists with our School Improvement Plan.

Listening to stories can help boost reading, writing and language skills as well as build understanding of yourself, others and the world beyond school.

MHS Summer Writers Competition:
Calling all authors and illustrators
– our school library needs you!
As usual, we will be running a competition to boost the ‘our authors’ section of our MHS library.
Why not have a go!
- Write your own short story – maybe add some pictures/illustrations
- Write about a favourite topic or hobby - why should people try this?
- Write about a place you visit – would you recommend it to others?
- Write a short comic strip or Manga-style story
- Draw a new front cover for a favourite book
- Draw some illustrations to go with a favourite story

REMINDER: National Year of Reading
Summer Reading Challenge 2026

PROM 2026
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream:

Prom this year was definitely a magical night. Our Year 11s and 6th Form students arrived in style and looked amazing, striking a pose on the red carpet. They enjoyed a night of fabulous food and great company, raising the roof singing and dancing along with Mr Ellis’s band and the sounds of DJ Lukey.

7KS Trip To Nandos
7KS enjoyed a fantastic trip to Nando's to celebrate the end of the summer term. Pupils enjoyed a delicious meal with sides, unlimited drinks, and a soft swirl ice cream – the perfect treat in the summer heat!
The visit helped pupils build confidence, practise important life skills, and enjoy spending time with their peers while chatting, colouring, and interacting politely with the restaurant staff. A wonderful way to end the school year!.

Summer Reading Challenge:
Read to the Beat Children aged four to 11 can join the free Summer Reading Challenge taking place in libraries across the borough until Saturday 12 September. This year’s theme, Read to the Beat, links stories, music and creativity, encouraging reading for fun.
Sign up at any branch to collect rewards and be in with a chance to win an electronic keyboard and songwriting journal.
Events will be taking place in all library branches and highlights include two drop-in, free, family events - The Imagination Station: Botwell Green Library on Friday 31 July, 11am to 3pm and at the Great Barn, Manor Farm, on Thursday 13 August, 10am to 3pm. The events will be fun for all the family, including:
- Get creative with Ruislip Artists
- Go green with the Recycling Team
- Get fit with Better Leisure
- Meet the Children’s Centres and Heritage Teams
- Dr Bike will offer free basic bike repairs and information about cycling
- Relax at Storytime
- Captain Fantastic will be doing a half hour show at midday at both events – expect magic, science and lots of fun!

At Botwell Green, Puneet Bhandal introduces us to her book ‘Melody Queen’ featured on the Summer Reading Challenge book list at a workshop 3-4pm. Book at Botwell Green library
At the Great Barn Gita Ralleigh, author of ‘The Destiny of Minou Moonshine’ and ‘The Voyage of Sam Singh’ will be running a drop-in poetry creation station activity – no need to book, just come and see her on the day.

As we approach the end of term, we are offering catch-up clinics for students who may have missed any of their routine school vaccinations.
The following vaccines are available under the NHS evergreen Offer:
- HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Vaccine – for students in year 8-13
- Teenage Booster DTP/MenACWY - for students in years 9-13 who have not yetreceived these vaccinations.
If your child has already received the vaccine during our visit to your child’s school,please do not book an appointment. This helps us avoid duplicate records and ensures our vaccination records remain accurate.
These vaccines provide important protection and are an important part of the routine NHS vaccination programme.

HACS Together In Summer 2026
We are pleased to share details of our HACS Together in Summer 2026 programme, running from 27 July to 20 August 2026 at the HACS Resource Centre, Hayes.
The programme is designed for young people who can take part in group activities, engage in structured tasks, and demonstrate a level of independence. Participants will enjoy a variety of activities throughout the summer, including gardening and nature-based projects, arts and crafts, outdoor games, and problem-solving activities.
The programme is open to Hillingdon residents aged 8–17 years. Funded places are available for children eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM) through the HAF programme. There are also a limited number of places available for children who are not eligible for HAF funding, charged at £45 per day.
To ensure the programme is suitable for each young person, an assessment will be completed before a place is confirmed.
