Meadow High School
Weekly Bulletin

Issue 36 -  Friday 26 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

This week we said goodbye to our Year 14 students in their Leavers' Assembly. Leaving school is a milestone in a young person's life as it marks the end of their formal education and empowers them to enter the adult world. We are hugely proud of all our students moving on to pastures new, and we are certain that they will leave us equipped with the skills, knowledge, character and qualifications needed to make a positive mark on the communities they will now be part of.  We wish them every success and I would remind them of our school motto ‘Learning for Life’ and would encourage them to never stop trying or discovering new things that challenge and develop them.

Away from Leavers' Day, we have been celebrating Pride month this week. All students have had a PSHCE lesson on this, and we have run lunchtime drop-ins to discuss many of the themes around equality, inclusion and diversity. We have non-uniform on 3rd July to promote the theme of this year’s pride month - solidarity.

This week I also had the pleasure of joining students on their Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

The students canoed for a full day on Thursday and Friday before cooking their own meals and setting up their own camps to sleep out overnight.

Well done to all those involved.

{item_alt_tag}

Dear Parents and Carers,

To celebrate the end of Pride Month and all the activities that have been completed by the students, Meadow High School will be hosting its very own Pride Parade on Friday 3rd July!

The day will consist of a non-uniform day for all staff and students where we encourage everyone to wear bright colours and express themselves through their choice of clothing. Please adhere to the policy of no hoodies in school.

We will be hosting our Pride Parade on the main field where students will have the opportunity to wave the flags that they have been creating during their tutor time and PSHCE lessons.

We look forward to celebrating together. Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.

Regards,

Mrs Newman – KS4 Team Leader
Ms Sojka – KS3 Teacher

Re: Year 11 & 6th Form
Midsummer’s Night Dream PROM
Thursday 9th July 2026

To celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 and 6th Form students, we will be holding our school Prom on Thursday 9th July 2026 between 7:00pm and 10:00pm in the school hall.  Ticket price £12.

The theme this year is A Midsummer’s Night Dream, we meet by moonlight for a magical evening celebrating our love of music, dancing, good food and good company.  At Meadow High School we believe in celebrating our individuality -  wear what makes you feel amazing!

Prom Shop: Stylist to the stars, Ms Hibbs will be happy to help anyone stuck for what to wear. Tick the slip below and she will then arrange a time for your child to come and have a look.

Dee’s Trims:  Ms. Lee and her talented team are on standby. If your child would like support with hair and/or nails to help them feel fabulous on the night please tick the slip below and we will contact you to arrange a suitable time – first come, first served.

Prom tickets are on sale NOW until Thursday 2nd July

The ticket price includes a delicious three course meal (Head Chef - Mrs Fabisch), a visit to Ms Barratt’s famous mocktail bar and Mr. M. ‘spinning the discs’ with a special guest set from Luke.  The evening is a chance to hang out with friends and dance the night away.   This year you will have the chance to add a touch of glitter before striking a pose with friends in our photo booth.  To join in the fun, all you need to do is fill in the slip below, make your menu choice and hand both to Ms Nayar in the Faculty Leader’s Office - thank you Miss Nayar!

Please note: There will be plenty of opportunities to capture memories by taking photos. If you do not want your child to be in any photographs with friends, or please contact your child’s Form Tutor.

We hope very much that all students will come and celebrate. It’s a chance for our 6th Form community to say hello to those joining in September and farewell to those ready for the next chapter of their lives.

Yours faithfully
Anne Sugden & Jennie Tudor

David Bowie
by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara

read by Mrs Sugden

This series of books encourages us to dream big, celebrating the life of people who did just that!

As a child, young David lived with his family in a tiny house on an ordinary street, but he had a head full of songs and ideas. At school he loved music and dance, and he was inspired by his brother's rock and jazz records to pick up the saxophone and start writing his own songs.   Listen to the story to find out more…

Green Eggs and Ham
by David McKee

Read and signed by Mrs Monaghan

With his unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr. Seuss has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for over fifty years.

In this story  Sam-I-am persists in pestering a grumpy grouch to eat a plate of green eggs and ham, perseverance wins the day, teaching us all that we cannot know what we like until we have tried it!

Pathway 1 - Trip to Whipsnade Zoo

On Thursday the 18th of June we went to Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire. The pupils had the opportunity to walk around, explore and see a vast variety of animals. They particularly liked the elephants, giraffes and penguins. They practised their memory skills and tried to remember the names of all the animals. We had frequent breaks during our trip, the pupils enjoyed having their snacks and lunch together.

Pathway 2 - Sixth Form Leavers
- Trip To Brighton

This week, our Key Stage 5 leavers enjoyed a fantastic trip to Brighton. We had an amazing day making the most of the sunshine and sea air, as well as enjoying the arcades, shops, funfair, ice cream, and traditional fish and chips on the beach.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of their school journey together and reflect on all they have achieved. You should all be incredibly proud of your accomplishments during your time at school. We wish each of you every success and happiness for the future. Good luck in your next adventures!
