Weekly Bulletin

Issue 35 -  Friday 19 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

Exams are almost over, and I would like to commend the students for the way they have applied themselves at this challenging time.  All students have given maximum effort and commitment to their preparation and performance, and I am sure they will receive some pleasing results in the summer.  Well done to all students involved.

We have also been doing lots of recruiting recently as we move towards two sites from September.  In the last week alone, we have employed 6 Teaching Assistants, a cook, a cook’s assistant, a librarian and teaching staff to support students at our new Northwood Road site. These really strong appointments will ensure that we deliver a world-class education for all our young people.  Further details about the progress on our Northwood Road site can be found on our school Instagram or website.

This week we had some very exciting events in school.    We also had a Post 16 visit to the Beefeater in Harrow.

As always I wish you a great weekend.

Headteacher

Year 14 Gain Hands-On Experience in Car Maintenance

Year 14 students recently took part in a series of practical car maintenance sessions led by Cherif, the Occupational Therapist, as part of their Home Management lessons. The sessions provided students with valuable hands-on experience and helped develop important life skills linked to vehicle safety and maintenance.

During the practical activities, students explored key aspects of maintaining a vehicle using the school’s transit vehicle. They learned how to check a car’s tyre tread and tyre pressure, understanding why both are essential for road safety.  Students were also shown where to top up oil and water levels within the vehicle.

The sessions were both informative and enjoyable, helping students build confidence and independence while learning practical skills that will support them in everyday life.

Pathway 1 - KS5 Trip to The Beefeater

Pathway 1 KS5 went on a trip to the beefeater. This was part of the  life skills out in the community curriculum activity combined with a celebration for the school leavers. The trip went well and everyone had a great experience ordering from the menu, enjoying their food with friends and saying a big thankyou to the staff at the restaurant who ensured the visit was successful.

Boomerang Club Meet Up

It is always great to hear what they have been up to. Some students have finished exams, enjoyed college for the first year , have started work placements and are travelling around the uk.

We also enjoyed a tombola and raised funds for MND. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and bought our tickets.

Have a lovely Summer!

News & Events In The Community

Screen Use by Children Aged 5-16: Call for Evidence

The DfE has launched a national call for evidence on screen use among children aged 5-16. This is an important opportunity to better understand how children are using screens—and the potential impact on their learning, wellbeing, and development. The call for evidence aims to gather views and experiences from parents, carers, professionals and young people themselves. The findings will help inform future guidance and possible policy decisions, ensuring that children can use technology in a balanced, safe and positive way.

Parents and carers are encouraged to take part in the consultation by sharing experiences and views. Please respond here: Screen use by children aged 5-16: call for evidence

In the meantime, these simple steps can help promote a healthy balance:

  • Setting clear expectations around screen time
  • Keeping devices out of bedrooms at night
  • Encouraging screen-free family time
  • Talking regularly about online experiences

Make Do and Mend at the Battle of Britain Bunker

Hillingdon Council is hosting a free 'Make Do and Mend' Repair Day on Saturday 27 June, 11am-2pm at the Battle of Britain Bunker, Uxbridge, offering families the chance to learn practical repair skills and reduce waste. The event will feature hands-on activities including clothes mending workshops, small electrical and bike repairs, along with opportunities to donate or recycle unwanted items. With a strong focus on sustainability, reuse and saving money, this is a great opportunity for pupils and their families to get involved in climate action locally.
