Issue3 - Friday 22 September 2023

Dear Families

Mrs Rigby is currently absent and I have stepped into her gap temporarily. Hopefully she will be back soon.

We have now had a complete week of a full timetable and, whilst there have been a couple of minor changes, overall everything seems to be working well.  If your children have any comments or thoughts on their option group (Yr10 and above only) timetables, please raise these with the form tutor.

On 5th October, we have our Meet the Tutor evening. This is an opportunity for parents to arrange an appointment to come into school to have a face to face chat with your child's form tutor.  It's always easier to chat when you can put a face to a name, and it's important that you and form tutors have a chance to chat about the upcoming year and an opportunity to talk about your child and share any key information with us.

This term's PLIM (Pupils Learning Intentions Map) will be sent out next week to parents of all pupils, except pupils who are new to the school.  New pupils will get their first PLIM at the start of next term once we have had a chance to get to know them better.  The meet the tutor time is an opportunity for you to discuss any particular focus you would like in the next PLIM. We would really like both yours and our pupils in put into the PLIMs.

We will have another parents evening next term, where parents can meet with other teachers who teach your child.  If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please make contact with the school via reception, or via the form tutor, to ask the relevant teacher to get in touch.  It is much better to answer questions quickly and deal with any problems sooner rather than later. We are always happy to chat to parents.

If you want to know what your child is learning about in lessons, please look at the school website.  The matrix tells you the topics that are being covered and Scheme of Work cover pages give you a little more information about what is learnt during this work.  We are constantly updating the website, but if you spot anything that is missing please let us know.

Finally, if your child's medical needs have changed in any way, please contact Keri Walsh to let her know.  Her email address is kwalsh@meadowhighschool.org or call reception and ask to speak to her.  It is really important that we have all the relevant up-to-date information, so we can put measures in place to ensure pupils are safe in school.

I will catch up with you all again next week, in the meanwhile have a great week.

Kind regards

Ms C Caddell
Deputy Headteacher

Here are a few photos from class 14DL's first session at BCA. The students enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to attending their college link sessions up until Christmas.

Student Anti Racism Workshop

On Friday 8th September our students were invited to take part in an Anti Racism workshop run by Audrey Pantelis, Founder and Director of Elevation Coaching and Consulting.

Audrey is a former SEND Head of School with over thirty years experience of working with children and young people. She is working on helping all students to understand and know what racism is.

During these workshops, our students were able to participate in general discussions about Racism and how we can all be kinder to each other.

Our students really enjoyed Audreys visit and we look forward to welcoming her again soon for more workshops.

On Monday 25th September we will be learning about the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur.

Traditionally, Jewish people wear white clothes for Yom Kippur, so your child is invited to come into school in non-uniform wearing white on Monday 25th September.

News & Events In The Community

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are absolutely delighted to report that the Hillingdon PCF Family Engagement Event on Saturday at The Pride Academy was a tremendous success! We thank all of the SEND families that turned up on a beautiful sunny day and supported us. We're proud to tell you that the majority of your 2023 feedback forms rated the day as "Excellent"

 They included comments such as:

- "Very inclusive - loved it"

- "Lots of information"

- "All of the activities should return next year"

If you wish to share any photos of the event (permission for use: any children/young people in photos you send in, must be your own children/young people), then please reply with photos attached, for publication on our website and Facebook page, and for our future promotions.

A piece of childrens clothing was left behind near the bouncy castles, if you think this might belong to you please let us know.

Best wishes,

Hillingdon PCF, On behalf of the Steering Committee
