Dear Parents/Carers

We need to see a massive improvement in attendance from September onwards.  Please contact the Welfare Team if you need support in this area.

All absences should be reported daily using the attendance email attendance@meadowhihschool.org.  If you wish to copy in the form tutor please do so, otherwise we will inform them.

Or by calling the school to leave a message.

Evidence of ALL medical appointments should be provided or these will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and will affect the pupils' attendance.

A reminder of the 3 stages of attendance monitoring

Stage 1 – A letter of concern will be sent to parents whose childs attendance is under 97%.  Internal monitoring will commence

If no significant improvement it moves to –

Stage 2 – Attendance of under 95%.  Internal monitoring will continue.  Parents will be invited in for a meeting to discuss the matter further.

If no significant improvement monitoring then moves to –

Stage 3 – Attendance under 90%.  Referral to the Local Authority Participation team will be made.  This leads to a panel meeting with the Local Authority and a possible fine.

We look forward to a positive start to the new term.

Kind Regards

Kathleen Bentley
Welfare Lead

Sports Week

What a success!

It was so great to see parents/carers back attending and also participating in this years Sports Week. Thank you all so much for supporting the event.

Pupils were fantastic and the participation levels were very high. All pupils had an excellent time and all gave positive feedback. The races and relays were very competitive and pupils were running with big smiles on their faces.

Winners of each Key Stage were:

KS3 - Red House.

KS4 - Yellow House.

KS5 - Yellow House.

Pathway 1 - Green House.

Message from Public Health England

COVID

As we learn to live safely with coronavirus (COVID-19), there are actions we can all
take to help reduce the risk of catching COVID-19 and passing it on to others.

These actions will also help to reduce the spread of other respiratory infections, such as flu, which can spread easily and may cause serious illness in some people.

There are simple things you can do in your daily life that will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections and protect those at highest risk.

Things you can choose to do are:

1. Get vaccinated.
2. Let fresh air in if meeting others indoors.
3. Practise good hygiene:

  • wash your hands
  • cover your coughs and sneezes
  • clean your surroundings frequently

VACCINATIONS

Thursday, 23 June 2022 Publications from Public Health

Vaccinations provide protection against serious illnesses.  Recent news reported the virus which causes polio has been detected in London and there have been
confirmed cases of measles in a neighbouring borough.  It is important to make sure your child is up to date with their vaccinations.

Check your child's red book or contact your GP if you don't think your child has had all their vaccinations.  You can find out more about which vaccines are given to children here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/nhs-vaccinations-and-when-to-have-them/
