Weekly Bulletin - Issue 30 - Friday 14 May 2021

Issue 30 - Friday 14 May 2021

Dear Families,

I am sure that you, like everyone here at Meadow, are happy that the stepping down of Covid restrictions is continuing. We will be continuing to work in alignment with the stepping down, which means that from Monday 17th May we will be easing the expectation for pupils to wear masks in school. We are asking for pupil’s to carry on wearing masks in corridors and should an individual choose to continue to wear a mask at other times, that would of course be allowed.

We are continuing with our one way system, additional cleaning, zoned playgrounds and break times, additional hand washing and sanitising stations, staggered lunchtime and lunches eaten in tutor group classrooms.

However, after half-term we will be resuming a completely normal way of working, which will mean that pupils move between lessons and go to a variety of classrooms, rather than staying in the tutor base with staff coming to them.  We believe that this is an important step to take and with support between now and the half-term break, pupils can learn where their lessons are located and how to navigate the one way system between lessons.

Covid

We have had no confirmed cases of Covid in our community since the last bulletin.

Assembly

Eid mubarak to our pupils, families and staff.

Assembly this week focused on Ramadan and Eid. We looked at the purpose of Ramadan with a particular focus on fasting, prayer and good deeds.  We also looked at Laylatul Qadr and Eid.  Assemblies like this are so important to help everyone understand the religions, cultures and traditions of peers and colleagues and I was delighted to be joined by Farhan, one of our 6th form pupils, who ably assisted me and made sure my pronunciation was correct. Thanks Farhan!

Very best wishes to you and all your loved ones

Charity Fundraising

In March students and staff took part in charity fundraising as part of Comic Relief.   Students had a non-uniform day and completed online games and quizzes in their tutor rooms. They bought cakes, baked by Miss Lepage and Miss Hagger, took part in raffles and watched our fun virtual assembly.

They managed to raise £308.75 for Comic Relief and £100 for this year's school charity, Halo. This is a fantastic amount, especially considering the challenges faced when fundraising virtually.

Halo are a local charity who support families suffering from bereavement. For more information about this vital charity, please click

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and took part in the day.

Miss Nolan
