    • Remebrance Day - Poppy Appeal - Our Library is Ready

      Dear Parent/Carer, 

      On Tuesday 11th November 2025 we will be observing Remembrance Day.

      The Royal British Legion’s red poppy is a symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. 

      We will be observing a 2-minute silence at 11am in honour of Armistice Day. 

      We will be selling poppies in the month of November to fundraise for the Royal British Legion and will be learning about the meaning of Remembrance Day in Assemblies and PSHCE lessons leading up to the day. 

      If you would like your child to purchase a poppy, please send them in with a small amount of change, we recommend a 50p donation.

      If you would like your child to opt out of the 2-minute silence, please complete the form below and return to the school reception.

    • Boomerang Club Meet Up

      Yesterday, Wednesday 22 October,  we held our Halloween Boomerang meet. 

      Once again it was lovely to see some of our ex students return and share their life experiences with us. 

      The ex students shared that they are enjoying a variety of different college courses, some have formed new friendships and one ex student has passed his driving test ! 

      They also shared that college is very different to Meadow High School , they miss Meadow and they enjoy our Boomerang meetups. 

      We look forward to our next Boomerang meet up in February.

    • Kaity Piper & Variety Club Visit Meadow High School To Make a Film

      On Tuesday 14th October Katie Piper, alongside Laurence Guinness CEO of the Variety Club, visited Meadow High School  to speak to some of our students about the impact the Variety Club sponsored minibuses have on our curriculum and the day to day life at Meadow High School.   The students had the opportunity to take part in the filming of a promotional video to encourage the sponsorship of further coaches for special educational needs schools.  The final video was shown at the Variety Club Show Business Awards on Sunday evening, which Katie Piper hosted. She spoke very warmly about her day with the students and the video was reported to be a highlight of the evening.

      The students represented themselves and Meadow High School extremely well and the link below is the final product of the video. Well done to Amiya, Vinaay, Sam, Diego, Kaniz, Sanjana, Raanya and Raheem who all took a starring role in the recording of the video. 

      It was a pleasure to host Katie and Laurence to the school and we look forward to working with The Variety Club again in the future.

    • English Year 11 – Having Halloween Fun!

      English Year 11 – Having Halloween Fun!

      This term our Year 11s have been building skills and knowledge to complete their first examination unit, Hobbies.  To support with this work we have been talking about our favourite hobbies and how they help us as well as exploring new hobbies we could try.

      All the groups will be having a go at different hobbies, one Year 11 group decided to have some autumnal fun and learn how to carve pumpkins.  Our aim is to then use this learning to write instructions using organisational features, offering clear instructions and helpful advice. This meant they had to think independently but share ideas with the group as they worked, focusing on the equipment needed and the best steps to success.

      As you can see, it turns out we have some very talented pumpkin carvers!

    • Halloween Disco / Dress Up Day - Thursday 23 October

      Dear Parents / Carers

      Due to many pupil requests, we are offering an optional dress up day this year to celebrate Halloween on Thursday 23 October!  Students can come into school wearing a costume to enjoy the festive spirit of the season.  As per our school uniform, no hoodies will be allowed.

      Additionally, we will be hosting a Halloween disco for students to enjoy at lunchtime.

      To ensure that this day is fun, inclusive and appropriate for everyone, we kindly ask that all costumes follow these guidelines:

      • School appropriate - suitable for a learning environment. Students should be able to move easily and participate in normal school activities.
      • Non violent - no imitation weapons, excessive blood or gore.  Masks should be able to be removed in class.
      • Inclusive and respectful - no costumes that stereotype or mock any culture, religioun or group of people.
      • Modest in design - costumes should not be overly  revealing.  We ask that students avoid attire that is too short, low-cut, or otherwise inappropriate for a school setting.

      Please note:  Any student wearing a costume that does not meet these guidelines may be asked to change into school uniform for the remainder of the day.

      Thank you for helping us keep Halloween fun, safe and respectful for all students.  We can't wait to see everyone's costumes !
