Pathway 1 KS5 went on a trip to the beefeater. This was part of the life skills out in the community curriculum activity combined with a celebration for the school leavers. The trip went well and everyone had a great experience ordering from the menu, enjoying their food with friends and saying a big thankyou to the staff at the restaurant who ensured the visit was successful.
Year 14 students recently took part in a series of practical car maintenance sessions led by Cherif, the Occupational Therapist, as part of their Home Management lessons. The sessions provided students with valuable hands-on experience and helped develop important life skills linked to vehicle safety and maintenance.
During the practical activities, students explored key aspects of maintaining a vehicle using the school’s transit vehicle. They learned how to check a car’s tyre tread and tyre pressure, understanding why both are essential for road safety. Students were also shown where to top up oil and water levels within the vehicle.
The sessions were both informative and enjoyable, helping students build confidence and independence while learning practical skills that will support them in everyday life.

On Thursday the 18th of June we went to Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire. The pupils had the opportunity to walk around, explore and see a vast variety of animals. They particularly liked the elephants, giraffes and penguins. They practised their memory skills and tried to remember the names of all the animals. We had frequent breaks during our trip, the pupils enjoyed having their snacks and lunch together.

This week, our Year 14 students took part in an engaging Home Management session focused on bike maintenance, with valuable support from Cherif, one of our occupational therapists.
Students learned key skills to help keep their bikes safe and roadworthy, including how to adjust a bike seat to the correct height for comfort and safety. They also explored the importance of maintaining the correct tyre pressure, practised inflating tyres to the recommended level, and discussed why keeping a bike clean and in good working order is essential for personal safety.
It was a practical and informative session that helped students build confidence and independence in maintaining their own bikes.

On Tuesday students who are studying Health & Social Care and Hairdressing all visited The V & A Museum in London together.
It was an amazing opportunity for students to visit the Museum, students were able to consolidate their learning from both Hairdressing and Health and Social Care by exploring how beauty, wellbeing, and personal care have developed throughout history.
The visit encouraged students to make meaningful links between historical influences and modern professional practices, enhancing their subject knowledge while developing observation, communication, and reflective skills.

Centre Parcs Residential
On Monday 11th May, Pathway 1 pupils from Key Stage 4 and 5 went on their annual residential trip to Center Parcs, Woburn Forest. This was a fantastic group of young people that for many was their first time away from home. As always, pupils worked hard on their independence and life skills. Upon arriving, groups went to Tesco with their budget and shopping lists, purchasing all the ingredients they needed to cook for the week.
Unsurprisingly, swimming was the favourite for many, as well as bowling, minigolf, rock climbing and archery.

Mr Cunningham gave a talk at the recent Transition Parents Evening. Here is a video of that talk.
We had a really lovely day at Whipsnade Zoo. The pupils were very excited and enjoyed seeing all the animals, especially the giraffes, elephants and lions.
It was great to see them using what we have been learning in Science. Some pupils were able to name animal groups like mammals and reptiles, and talk about what animals eat. They also spoke about what animals need to survive, such as food, water and shelter.
We are really proud of the pupils. It was a long day, but they tried their best, stayed calm and kept going. Many pupils also did well using their words to communicate what they needed.

Students from Years 7 and 8 took part in a PPE and team-building workshop today (Tuesday), delivered by employees from the Danny Sullivan Group.
Throughout the session, students engaged in a range of hands-on, team-based activities, including building towers using spaghetti and participating in PPE relay races. The workshop provided a fun and interactive way for students to develop teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, while also learning about the importance of personal protective equipment.
All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and took part with great enthusiasm.
