    WHOLE SCHOOL:
Letter to Parents/Carers of all KS3 pupils (Royal Lane and Northwood Road) - KS3 Independent Learning Bookle
    t

    20 October 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    KS3 Independent Learning Booklet

We are pleased to share our Key Stage 3 Independent Learning Booklet, which has been developed in response to parent feedback regarding learning at home.

We are starting trialling the booklet in Key Stage 3 at both the Royal Lane and Northwood Road sites from after half term.

The aim of the booklet is to provide pupils and their families with practical learning activities and ideas that build upon the knowledge and skills developed in school. These activities are designed to help pupils apply their learning in meaningful, real-life situations and everyday experiences beyond the classroom.

We encourage parents and carers to explore the activities with their child and adapt them to meet their individual needs and abilities. Activities can be simplified to provide additional support or extended to offer further challenge.

We would love to hear about the activities pupils complete at home. Please complete the booklet, share photographs or brief messages with the form tutor so that we can celebrate their efforts and share learning experiences.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us to develop meaningful opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. We look forward to seeing how pupils engage with the booklet and apply their skills in everyday life.

    Kind regards,

    Faye Bonnar
    Assistant Headteacher Northwood Road

    Dear Parents and Carers

As part of our ongoing work ensuring that all Meadow students are safe both in and away from school, we are delighted to announce that we will be running some online safety workshops for our students.  These workshops will be delivered by an external partner Rebel Therapies. A website link for them is below.

The first of these workshops will take place on 13th October and will be delivered to students in Year 8.  Over the course of the year, we will deliver workshops to all students at Meadow High School on either campus.

In addition to working with the students Rebel Therapy will also deliver parent workshops when they are in school.  These are open to parents whose child is at either Royal Lane or Northwood Road Campus.  I would strongly encourage parents to attend these workshops.  The first ones will be held at Royal Lane Campus on 13th October at either 9.15am or 2.15pm.

    ROYAL LANE
Letter to pupils in KS5 - Changes to Maths Groupings

    October 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to inform you about some changes to the grouping and staffing arrangements for your child’s maths lessons in Key Stage 5.

Following a review of pupils’ current learning needs and progress, we have made some adjustments to the way pupils are grouped and supported during maths. These changes are designed to ensure that pupils receive teaching and support that is closely matched to their individual needs, while also providing appropriate challenge and opportunities for them to develop their confidence and mathematical understanding.

As part of these changes, your child may be working in a different maths group and/or have a different member of staff supporting their lessons. We understand that changes to familiar routines can sometimes raise questions, so we would like to reassure you that these decisions have been carefully considered with the aim of supporting pupils’ progress and ensuring that they are able to engage positively with their learning.

The new arrangements will begin from Monday 5th October. We will continue to monitor pupils’ progress and engagement closely and make further adjustments where appropriate.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the changes further, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards,

    Mrs Shukla
Director of Learning of Maths, Technology and Computing

Letter to KS3 - Food Technology

    October 2026

    Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of our Technology curriculum, all students will be taking part in Food Technology and Textiles lessons this academic year. These practical lessons provide valuable opportunities for pupils to develop essential life skills, creativity, and confidence.

To support these lessons, the school provides many of the ingredients, fabrics, and resources needed. While the true cost of these materials is significantly higher, we have heavily subsidised them to keep the contribution required from families as low as possible.

We kindly ask for a contribution of £10.00 per term, or alternatively a one-off payment of £30.00 for the full year.

All payments should be made via ParentPay.

Your support enables us to continue offering high-quality, practical experiences for every pupil in Food Technology and Textiles.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

    Yours sincerely,

    NORTHWOOD ROAD CAMPUS
    - Letter to all parents / carers

    24 September 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers

Great news.  We have officially had the building signed over to us from Hillingdon Local Authority and we are excited to be welcoming students in all year groups from Monday 28th September.  Transport provided by the Local Authority will also begin on this date.  It has taken a long time to get to this point and I appreciate that the unexpected delays have caused additional challenges to families.  For your patience and understanding I thank you.

Outlined below are a few basics ahead of Monday, especially around drop off and pick up at the start and end of the day.

    1) Students who are being dropped off by car must not be dropped off in the Harefield Academy Car Park.  Parents should drop their child off in a neighbouring road (these are not permit holder areas) and walk them the final short distance to school via the Harefield Academy Car Park.  The same applies at collection at the end of the day.  Parents must not park or wait in Harefield Academy School Car Park but should park in the neighbouring area and meet their child at the pedestrian gate accessed via Harefield Academy Car Park. Meadow staff will be available to direct you at the start and end of school.  This is temporary while the turning circle is finished and cleared of building material.

    2) Students who walk to school should access the site via the Pedestrian gate located through the Harefield Academy Car Park. Meadow staff will be on hand to meet and greet students and show them where to go.

The photos below identify the gate to access Harefield Academy when walking, the route over the car park and the gate for our school. Please do not bring cars into the Harefield Academy site.

Harefield Academy Gate for access on foot only

Harefield Academy Car Park to walk through

Gate to Meadow High School Northwood Road Campus

    3) Students being driven to school by parents or walking should not arrive on site before 8.30.  At this time the gates will be opened and staff will be on hand to escort students to the hall and classrooms to start their first day.

    4) Please remember that while we are open, there is still building work going on, on the external areas of the school and on some locations within the buildings themselves.  This will continue for approximately three weeks.

    Aerial view

    5) Food Arrangements for week commencing 28th September only.

Normally pupils will order their preferred lunch each morning as part of their welcome activities each day. Due to a delay in being able to access our full kitchen facilities, we will prepare food for this first week in the school's food technology room, instead of the kitchen. The full kitchen facilities should be operational, as normal, from Monday 5th October.

This has resulted in a slightly more limited menu than we would offer previously for this first week only.  There will be both a hot meat and vegetarian and cold meat and vegetarian option each day for all pupils available.  There will be a dessert option, as well as fresh fruit and yogurt available each day.

Pupils are welcome to bring in a packed lunch but we politely remind you that due to food hygiene regulations, we are unable to reheat any foods brought externally from home.

For this week only, we would ask you, alongside your child where possible, to order their preferred meals so we can ensure sufficient stocks and to make the process as seamless as possible.

Where your child has previously had an individual arrangement this will continue as agreed previously.  Many thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Please complete the survey link below:

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScIvkIr6zORxR-_QQX3x-US6_5AqXsnSnF1BbJMuCp8VZkDvg/viewform?usp=dialog

I am sure that day one will be a success and students will quickly settle into their new surroundings.  If there are any questions these should be addressed to Miss Willis, Miss Bonner or Mrs O'Neill in the first instance.

    Best regards

WHOLE SCHOOL - Letter regarding Wet Break Procedures

    21 September 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Wet Break Procedure

We are writing to inform you of a change to our arrangements for break times during wet weather.

Following monitoring, staff feedback and our ongoing consideration of pupils’ wellbeing and safety, Meadow High School will be moving away from routine indoor “wet breaks”. Wherever weather conditions are safe, pupils will continue to access our outdoor spaces, even when it is raining.

This approach has been developed with our pupils’ individual needs at the centre. Many of our pupils benefit from regular movement, predictable routines and access to outdoor sensory experiences. We have found that remaining indoors during wet breaks can, for some pupils, lead to increased anxiety, dysregulation and difficulty transitioning into their next lesson.

We have also identified a number of practical challenges associated with indoor wet breaks, including:

    • Limited indoor space and resources, which can increase conflict, sensory overload and unsafe interactions.
    • Increased pressure on staffing and supervision, particularly when teachers are taking their entitled lunch break.
    • Reduced opportunities for movement and sensory regulation.
    • Dysregulation during break times sometimes continues into the following lesson and affects pupils’ readiness to learn.

By continuing to provide access to outdoor spaces wherever it is safe to do so, we aim to:

    • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and physical wellbeing.
    • Maintain consistent and predictable daily routines.
    • Reduce difficulties associated with limited indoor space and resources.
    • Encourage resilience, independence and confidence in managing different weather conditions.

Indoor breaks will only be used when outdoor conditions are considered extreme or unsafe.

Indoor break provision will be used when outdoor conditions present a significant safety or health risk.

    This may include:

    • Met Office amber or red weather warnings.
    • Thunderstorms or lightning.
    • Extreme high winds.
    • Extreme temperatures where being outdoors presents a health risk.

The Senior Leadership Team will make the decision when an indoor break is required and will ensure that staff, pupils and families are informed.

We ask that pupils come to school prepared for outdoor activities in a range of weather conditions. This may include:

    • A waterproof coat.
    • Suitable footwear.
    • Additional outdoor clothing appropriate to the season.

Where possible, the school will also have spare umbrellas, coats and clothing available to support pupils who may need them.

We recognise that some pupils have individual needs which may make outdoor breaks more challenging. Reasonable adjustments and/or temporary indoor provision will therefore be considered for pupils with identified needs, as outlined within their risk assessment and/or Pupil Relationship Plan.

The impact of this change will be closely monitored and reviewed by the school to ensure that the arrangements continue to meet the needs, wellbeing and best interests of our pupils.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us provide a safe, consistent and pupil centred environment for all our pupils.

    Yours sincerely,
Mrs Anju Mistry / Miss Amy Willis

WHOLE SCHOOL - Letter re. RSE Parental Withdrawal

    8th September 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers,

RE: Relationships, Sex and Health Education at Meadow High School.

Statutory government guidelines outline that, from the age of 11, it is compulsory for all schools to provide an RSE and health education curriculum. At our school, we believe that it is important to provide our pupils with a thorough and balanced curriculum, including age and developmental stage appropriate information about sex and relationships. The details of what will be taught to the various year groups is detailed in the school’s Relationship, Sex and Health Education Policy, which can be accessed on our school website https://www.meadowhighschool.org/ or in hard copy via our school office.

Though schools must provide RSE and health education for pupils from the age of 11, up until the age of 19, only aspects of the science national curriculum are compulsory for pupils to learn. Therefore, as parents, you are entitled to request that your child be removed from sex education lessons up to and until three terms before they turn 16-years-old. After that point, if your child wishes to receive sex education, the school will make arrangements to provide them with sex education during one of those terms.

Requests for withdrawal must be completed annually and should be submitted using the form below to the Head Teacher, who will discuss this with you and the PSHE/RSE Director of Learning Leanne Barratt, and determine an appropriate substitute for these lessons. In most instances, young people will be provided with relevant self-directed learning about friendships, bullying and relationships which they can complete under the supervision of a teaching assistant. If you have any concerns or queries about your child’s participation in these lessons, please do not hesitate to contact either Leanne Barratt or your child’s form tutor.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Graham Cunningham                                          Leanne Barratt

Head Teacher                                                              Director of Learning PSHE/RSE

We would like to invite you to our Phase Transfer Coffee Morning on Tuesday 22nd September 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at Meadow High School Royal Lane site.

The coffee morning will provide an opportunity for you to find out more about the phase transfer process and what to expect as your child or young person prepares to move into their next stage of education.

During the morning, you will have the opportunity to meet with:

    • Vishani Modha – SEND EHC Co-ordinator
    • Laura Stokes – SEND Team Manager (Post-16)
    • Parminder Sandhu - AR Lead - Meadow High School

They will provide information, advice and guidance about:

    • The phase transfer process
    • Important deadlines and timescales
    • EHCP reviews and the transition process
    • What parents and carers need to do to support their young person
    • What to expect during the transition to post-16 education
    • An opportunity to ask any questions you may have

Parking: Please be aware that there will be no available parking on site. We would therefore encourage families to use alternative transport arrangements where possible. If you do need to drive, please allow additional time to find suitable parking.

We very much hope that you will be able to join us, as this is an important opportunity to find out what happens next for your young person and to ensure you are fully informed about the next steps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Mrs Tudor

Royal Lane Campus - Letter to selected pupils - Dance Lessons

    September 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Dance Lessons

Your child is taking Dance this term as part of the Performing Arts carousal.

    It will be every Wednesday.

For this lesson, they will require a dance kit they will need to bring each week to take part.

We would suggest suitable clothing would be their PE kit or similar such as:

    • Jogging bottoms or leggings
    • T-shirt (plain)
    • Trainers
    • Water bottle

Students will have time to change in and out of their kit within lessons.

    Thank you for your support,
    Yours sincerely,

    Miss Kalia
Director of Learning for Performing Arts, PE and Science

ROYAL LANE CAMPUS - Letter to Class 7CS - Swimming Lessons

    Friday 11th September 2026

    Dear Parents / Carers,

Re: Swimming Lessons for year 7 students.

Starting on Tuesday the 15th September 2026, your child will be having their swimming lessons on a Tuesday period 1 and 2, instead of PE. They will not need their PE kit, but will need their swimming kit. These lessons are conducted off site and students will be transported there via school mini bus. These will run until we finish for the Christmas holidays.

These lessons will run until the end of the school year.

These lessons are designed to promote independence as well as develop swimming skills, therefore, I ask that parents do not plan to meet school groups at the pool for any reason. If you have a concern or a question then please do contact me at school to discuss it further.

    They will need to bring:

    • Swimming trunks / costume (no bikinis). A pool appropriate T-shirt if desired.
    • A towel
    • Goggles if required

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Ms C Sojka
    Swim Teacher
