Welcome to Meadow High School Governing Body

The school's Governing Body has a strategic role in the development of the school and is responsible for its policies and finances but does not become involved in day-to-day management issues; that is the role of the headteacher. Governors ensure key priorities are included in the school development plan (SDP) and then monitor progress towards completion.

Meadow governors are committed to providing a safe, challenging and stimulating environment to help pupils become confident young adults, maximising their abilities and developing their skills to allow them to be happy and contribute to society in their "Life Beyond Meadow”.

The Governing Body's responsibilities are:

• Safeguarding
• Child protection
• Financial control – budget setting, monitoring and resource allocation
• Curriculum – holding the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of education it provides
• Staffing and personnel matters – appointing new senior staff and ensuring the staffing structure of the school supports its aim and objectives.
• Comparing the performance of the school to other similar schools
• Performance management of staff, including the headteacher's targets
• Disciplinary procedures
• Premises including health and safety
• Admissions to the school
• Information for parents, families and community

The aim of all of these activities is to promote school improvement and to raise standards and achievement.

Members of Meadow High School Governing Body

All our governors are volunteers from the school's community who wish to make a positive contribution to our children's education.

There are twelve members:

• 4 Parent Governors (elected by parents).
• 2 Staff Governors (the Headteacher and one elected by the school staff)
• 1 Local Authority Governor (nominated by the LA, appointed by the Governing Body.
• 5 Co-opted Governors (members of the local community appointed by the Governing Body).

The Governing Body has the authority to appoint Associate Governors as appropriate to provide additional support and expertise.
