Oracy Workshop Talk About the Future [Year 11s]

Talk The Talk work with the Jack Petchey Foundation.  Their mission is to help students develop confident and fluent skills expressing their ideas and talking to others in a range of different situations. Our trainer, Ashley, worked with our Year 11s to reflect on identifying skills they have gained, practising how to present themselves and talk about those in an interview.

Our students were absolutely amazing and we were so proud of the way they moved outside their comfort zone to try this new experience. Watching their self-belief and confidence grow was just wonderful.  Ashley really enjoyed his visit and is hoping to be back in the New Year to work with our 6th Formers.

  • Goodbye from Ms Caddell

    Goodbye From Ms Caddell

    Hi All,

As most of you already know, next Friday is my last working day after almost 39 years as a teacher, nearly all spent in Special Education.  I moved down from the North West of England early in the 1990s to get a permanent job thinking it would just be for a couple of years...... and have never left!!!!

When I left Hedgewood about 14 years ago to move to Meadow my Mum joked it was about time I graduated to secondary school, and now it is now time to finally leave school!!!   I started at 4 years old and have been in education ever since.   I went part-time in September and have discovered a whole new world - shops and cafes without children!!!!  Who knew that even existed???

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say how much I have enjoyed working at Meadow and wish you all the best in the future.  I am not totally cutting my ties with the school as I am going to join the school governors for a while, so I will be popping in now and again, at least until the end of the school year.

I will miss the whole school community, but I am also really looking forwards to my "Life Beyond Meadow"
    All the best.

  • Scholastic Book Fair

    Published 12/12/24

All of us at Meadow High School want to say a huge THANK YOU!!! to all the support we received from families and staff who visited the Scholastic Book Fair last week ahead of Christmas!

With your help, we were able to raise an amazing £177.72 that we will receive back in FREE rewards to spend on even more fabulous resources for our students! Not only did we raise a fantastic amount, but it was a wonderful opportunity to meet more of our school community, and we are so grateful for all of you!

We had a great range of books on offer this time, from "Heartstopper" by Alice Oseman to "Goosebumps" by RL Stine, as well as brand-new releases from authors such as David Walliams and Liz Pichon. We also had a large selection of fantastic stationery that included things such as unicorn and shark pencil cases, erasers in the shapes of spiders and spacemen, and lots of different types of keyrings. And let's not forget the very popular finger pointers!

We will be hosting another Scholastic Book Fair in February to coincide with World Book Day, so keep your eyes peeled for more information in the new year!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Kind Regards,

    Miss S Gaafar
    Librarian (Supporting and Delivering Learning)
