Weekly Bulletin

Issue 6 - Friday 16 October 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

This week some of our students have had a wonderful experience at Jamie’s Farm in Bath. This week-long residential has enabled them to engage in agricultural activities such as milking cows, feeding livestock and cleaning animal pens. They have also developed amazing social and life skills working as part of a team.

This week we have also been joined by Munur Shah of Rebel Therapies. He has been working with Year 8 students and parents from all year groups about staying safe on mobile devices, the internet and social media. The sessions also looked at AI and the rise of deep fakes. Munur will be returning again this year to continue to work with other year groups and more parents.

I have also had the pleasure of supporting swimming lessons for our students. It has been a privilege to see how well our students are taught this important life skill and how strongly they engage with it.

This week also witnessed Meet The Tutor Evening.  This is a crucial evening where parents get to meet their child’s tutor and discuss how they have settled in, their relationship plan and their goals for the year.  My takeaways from the evening that I would urge parents to focus on at home are the importance of excellent attendance, the valued behaviour in the relationship plan and the PLIMs their child will focus on this year.

Finally, this week it was great to see so many parents at my first coffee morning and I will feed back to you in my bulletin next week.

Have a good weekend.

Independent Learning Booklet
Key Stage 3

Please find the link to the KS3 Independent Learning Booklet, developed in response to parent feedback regarding learning at home.

We are trialling the booklet across Key Stage 3 at both the Royal Lane and Northwood Road sites.

The aim of the booklet is to provide pupils and parents with practical learning, activities and ideas that build upon the knowledge and skills pupils develop in school, helping them to apply their learning in real-life, everyday situations.

Parents and carers are encouraged to adapt the activities to suit their child’s individual needs, either by extending the level of challenge or simplifying tasks where appropriate.

We would welcome parents and carers sharing photos or brief messages with the form teacher to celebrate and share the activities their children have completed at home.

Thank you for the support in helping to develop meaningful opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.

Jamies Farm Residential Trip

A group of 8 pupils have all visited Jamie's Farm, near Bath, for a week's opportunity to reset, recharge and explore new experiences and friendships. We have all worked hard, waking up early, feeding and cleaning the farmyard animals, planting and harvesting the gardens, cooking group meals, hiking local hills (they really were mountains we are sure!) and getting to experience some of the animals up close.

There has been lots of laughter and fun, whilst exploring our lives with the farm workers and talking about what experiences from this week we would like to do to change our lives back home.

The scenery was beautiful, even if some of the smells weren't!

Class 7LB - Pantathlon Competition

Last Thursday, Class 7LB proudly represented Meadow at the Hillingdon Xtend competition, joining students from other schools across the borough for a day of sporting activities and friendly competition.

The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop their confidence and skills in physical activity, build social connections and a sense of belonging, and enjoy positive sporting experiences. It also aimed to encourage wider participation in sport and help address inequalities by engaging students from a range of backgrounds.

All students represented Meadow exceptionally well, demonstrating excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day. They participated fully in all activities and showed fantastic sportsmanship, supporting one another and embracing the spirit of the event.

We are incredibly proud of Class 7LB for being such positive ambassadors for Meadow!

A big thank you to Mrs Bullen for arranging the trip and the team to support them attending,

Miss Kalia
