Dear Parents and Carers
It was wonderful to welcome all the students back last week and to hear what they had done over the holidays. I was impressed to see how quickly they settled back into the routines of school life. This was commented on by guests I had in school on Friday who commented on how calm the school was, how friendly and welcoming the staff and students were and how engaged students were in lessons.
I wanted to use this edition of the bulletin to update you on what we have done in relation to the feedback you gave to me in the drop-in sessions and surveys you completed in the Autumn Term.
The majority of the feedback focussed on improving communication between home and school. Specifically, you mentioned that you would like messages home on positives involving your child. In response to this, I have begun writing to students and delivering the letters to them in class to bring home to you in order to talk about what they have been doing in school. This week we have begun our ‘Positive Notes.’ These will be an email sent to you by teachers commenting on positive things your child has done in school. This term you will also receive your child’s report, and we will also be adding in a third report this academic year so you will receive one report that covers each school term.
Mr Millard will lead on this and will speak to you directly.
You also commented on how much you appreciated the face to face sessions I ran in the Autumn. I will be repeating these in the Spring Term and I will be holding a drop in before Easter. As I did last term, I will also be writing to you early this term outlining what we will be focussing on in the term ahead.
We are also developing a Communication Policy to pull all of this together. In the short term, please remember that you should receive an initial response to your emails within 48 hours with a full response within 5 working days. Staff have been reminded of this.
Away from communication we are also looking at Independent Learning in readiness for September 2026 and also some form of School to Home book or app to discuss how your child is getting on in class. These take time, but please be assured we are addressing your points. Finally, we are also looking at transition into the school and between Key Stages.
I wish you all a good week ahead.

Sixth Form Workshop
Sixth form students took part in a workshop on Wednesday led by guest speaker Eddie McGinty. Eddie is a local businessman who works closely with young people and community organisations to raise awareness of the risks and consequences associated with unsafe and harmful behaviour. The session was highly successful and helped students develop a better understanding of how to stay safe and make informed decisions.

DASH Need New Premises
- can you help ?
Unfortunately, DASH has been informed that it will be required to vacate The DASH Hub, located in the Pavilions Shopping Centre, by Easter 2026.
The organisation has operated its activity programme from this location for almost ten years, during which time The DASH Hub has become an integral part of DASH’s work and presence in the community. While this decision is met with great sadness, DASH is now actively seeking a new premises from which to continue delivering its services.
Securing suitable accommodation is proving to be challenging. DASH is therefore appealing to the local community for support. If any individuals or organisations are aware of an available hall or community space within the local area that could be used Monday to Friday, DASH would be grateful to hear from you. Please contact the team via direct message or by emailing info@dash.org.uk
DASH will continue to keep supporters and stakeholders informed of any further developments.
|
|
DASH is an incredible charity who works closely with Meadow and many of our families. Please email them if you know of any suitable space that could be used for their very popular activity programme. info@dash.org.uk

At our Ruislip Young People's Centre, we're also supporting the This Girl Can campaign by offering girls-only fitness sessions in our sports hall. These sessions aim to help young girls build confidence and enjoy fitness.
