Weekly Bulletin - Issue 5 - Friday 3 October 2025

{item_alt_tag}

Issue 5 - Friday 3 October 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

Since my last bulletin, so much has happened at Meadow High School.  We have had a wonderful visit from a local ballet company who performed live for our students and the school has also received confirmation that for the second year in a row we have been accredited with the Sports Mark Gold Award.  This is a great achievement for our school.  Well done to all the staff involved in this bid.

On a personal note, I have been getting into lessons as much as possible.  In the last two weeks, I have been working as a Teaching Assistant supporting students in lessons.  This has really helped me gain an understanding of what it is like to be a student in a classroom at Meadow High School and to see first hand how dedicated the teachers are to ensuring your children receive a world-class education.  I will continue to do this across both pathways moving forward, and I will also spend some time carrying out the other roles in the school. My aim is to understand how Meadow High School works from top to bottom.

Your voice is also important in ensuring our school is continually improving.  Last week you will have received a survey via email or in the bulletin.  Please can I encourage you to complete it by Friday 10th October.  Your responses will help form our improvement planning as we move to two sites from September next year.   The link to complete the Parent/Carer Stakeholder survey is here:
Parent / Carer Stakeholder Survey

If you are unable to complete the survey, or if you would prefer, I am holding three coffee mornings for parents to see and speak to me in person.  These will be held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 15th October at 2pm
  • Tuesday 21st October at 11.30am
  • Thursday 23rd October at 9am

Finally, for this week, please can I remind all parents to use the two marked crossings when walking their students to school and to not simply cross the road.  This not only ensures everyone can arrive on site safely but also models the behaviours we are educating students about in life skills.  I thank you for your support on this important issue.

Have a great week and look out for my latest video on the website.

Kind regards

Mr Cunningham

Wrap Up London

Getting your winter wardrobe ready? Does your warm coat need a new home? Have your kids grown out of their winter coat?

After half-term, I will be collecting warm coats to donate to Wrap up London.

If you would like to donate, please drop your coat to school
(drop off point to be confirmed).

Between 3rd -7th November

WrapUp London is our annual winter coat campaign. Every November, thousands of Londoners give their time to donate, sort and distribute coats to help people in need keep warm over the winter.

In 2024, WrapUp London saw over 15,000 warm coats collected. Among their beneficiaries were over 90 front line charities, including homelessness organisations, women’s refuges, and family centres. Now entering its 15th year, WrapUp London has become one of the largest winter volunteering events in the city: a celebration of what can be achieved when people combine their collective efforts to do good.

The number of those living in crisis in the city is rising, and the winter months are often the most challenging for people already enduring homelessness and poverty.

A person’s spare coat and another’s spare time can not only help keep a person warm, it can keep them alive.

Let’s spread some Meadow High school warmth around London this Winter

London
Children's Ballet

Performance
at Meadow High School

We’re excited to share highlights from our recent dance performance visit that took place on Friday 26th September. Our students had the wonderful opportunity to attend a live performance by the London Children's Ballet here at Meadow High School, and it was truly an inspiring experience!

{item_alt_tag}

The performance showcased a variety of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary and jazz, and featured professional young dancers who captivated the audience with their talent, energy, and storytelling through movement. Students were especially engaged during the interactive segment and had the chance to say hello and congratulate them during the meet and greet session.

This visit supported our curriculum by deepening students’ understanding of artistic expression, rhythm, and body movement. It also encouraged them to think critically about how dance can communicate emotion and tell stories without words.

We’re proud of how respectful, curious, and enthusiastic our students were throughout the trip. Experiences like this help broaden their cultural awareness and appreciation for the performing arts.

Thank you for your continued support!
