Dear Families,
We are saying farewell to a number of staff this term. I'm sure you will join me in wishing them all the very best for the next part of their journey:
- Miss Dixon in her new HLTA position
- Miss Bolanos embarking on her teaching career
- Mr Cowley in his new school
- Miss Kepinska on her travels and new position in Tanzania
- Mrs Mansoor and Mrs Simpson on a happy, healthy and well-deserved retirement.
Online Safety This Summer
We often see a significant increase in online safety incidents for pupils over holiday periods.
Here are some useful tips we hope will support you to keep your child safe online this summer.
To ensure children stay safe online during the summer holidays, parents should establish clear online rules, encourage open communication and utilise available safety tools. This includes setting boundaries for internet usage, discussing appropriate online behaviour and making use of parental controls and reporting mechanisms.
-
Establish Clear Online Rules:
- Create a "digital map" with your child, outlining acceptable websites, apps, and time limits.
- Discuss the reasons behind the rules to foster understanding and cooperation.
- Consider screen-free zones and times, like bedrooms or mealtimes.
-
Open Communication:
- Talk to your child about their online activities, listen to their experiences, and address any concerns they may have.
- Encourage them to talk to you about anything that makes them uncomfortable or worried online.
-
Utilise Safety Tools:
- Familiarise yourself with the privacy settings on social media and gaming platforms.
- Explore parental control options offered by your internet provider or device manufacturers.
- Teach children how to use reporting mechanisms on social media and other platforms to flag inappropriate content or behaviour.
-
Be Mindful of Sharing:
- Discuss the potential risks of sharing photos and videos online, including the possibility of revealing personal information or location details.
- Encourage children to think about who will see their posts and how they might be interpreted.
-
Promote Healthy Online Habits:
- Lead by example by practising responsible online behaviour yourself.
- Encourage a balance between online and offline activities, promoting physical activity and other hobbies.
- Consider attending online safety sessions offered by your child's school or other organisations.
-
Know Where to Get Help:
- Familiarise yourself with resources like Report Harmful Content or CEOP if you have concerns about online safety or if you suspect your child is being targeted by harmful individuals.
I hope you find this helpful!
Very best wishes for a safe and happy summer.
Kind regards,
|

Prom
Last Thursday, 10th July, our Year 11-14 students attended a Masquerade Prom here at school.
Seeing them arrive and walk the red carpet was a magical moment for our whole school community, and we would like to thank everyone for their part in creating this very special occasion.
Students enjoyed a three-course meal, followed by a visit to the chocolate fountain [thank you Rafia!] and had fun chatting and having photos with friends as well as dancing the night away.
We are all now looking forward to next year!

Pathway 1 - Class SS
Trip To Hounslow Urban Farm
On Tuesday 8th July, Class SS had a fantastic day trip to Hounslow Urban Farm feeding alpacas, cows, sheep and goats.
We went to the Animal Encounter where we also learnt about reptiles and were even allowed to hold some.
At lunchtime, we had a picnic together before visiting the pigs (which were smelly!) and birds.
Such a great day for class SS.

Pathway 1 - KS4
Science
This term, Pathway 1 KS4 pupils have taken their science learning outside the classroom, expanding their knowledge of plants through hands-on experience.
|
|
They planted seeds, explored how light and space affect growth, and carefully nurtured their plants over time. From sunflowers to broad beans and even radishes - they showed great care and curiosity. Some were proud to taste what they had grown (although not everyone was a fan of the radishes!).
It has been a joy to watch their confidence grow alongside their plants.
Don’t forget to ask them for tips if you’re growing anything at home this summer!

Pathway 2
Year 10 Afternoon Tea Project
During Summer Term 2, Year 10 students have been enthusiastically planning, organising, and preparing an Afternoon Tea event to host for staff members. On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, both Year 10 classes delivered an exceptional experience by preparing and serving a delightful selection of treats.
The menu featured freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, homemade sausage and cheese rolls, pizza swirls, a variety of sandwiches, and an assortment of cakes, accompanied by hot teas, coffees, and cold drinks. The feedback from staff has been overwhelmingly positive, including comments such as:
|
|
"Thank you, it was so lovely and the food was scrumptious. The students were polite and helpful – overall, a 10/10 experience!"
"Thank you so much! The effort, quality of food, and atmosphere were absolutely perfect."
"This was brilliant… again! It’s wonderful to see the students so excited to host."

A huge well done and thank you to all Year 10 students who took part in this project. Your hard work and dedication truly shone through, and I am incredibly proud of each of you.
