Issue 35 - Friday 20 June 2025
|
|
Dear Families,
This week in assembly we talked about the Cognitive Triangle of feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
|
|
|
We spoke about there being no such thing as a bad emotion but that there are emotions that feel better or worse, but they are all valid and all allowed.
We looked at strategies that can help us when we have very big emotions / feelings including:
- walking barefoot on grass
- listening to music
- having a cold drink
- taking a quiet / dark break
- running hands under cold water
- having a crunchy snack
- colouring or art
- swinging / spinning / bouncing
- fidgets
- hot or cold shower
- having a hug or giving ourselves a help hug
- good smells
- snuggling in a blanket
- asking for help
We also talked about times when things just don't work:
- when our emotions are too intense
- when we have impulsive behaviour
- when we don't understand our own emotions
- when we struggle to make decisions
- when we haven't yet learned to manage our own behaviour
- when we are trying to avoid our feelings and emotions
At these times we discussed concentrating on one thing only, our breathing.

|
I hope this is of help to you at home.
Best wishes.
Kind regards,
Mrs J Rigby

KS Class Trip to Windsor
We walked to the castle, the King was in residence as the Royal Standard flag was flying. We ate a delicious ice cream. We looked at the ‘crooked’ house. We saw where the King and Queen were married. We fed the swans, geese and ducks. We had a picnic in the park and played with giant snakes and ladders. Thank you to Miss Willis for coming with us. It was a day to remember!
