Issue 32 - Friday 23 May 2025
|
|
Dear Families,
You may be aware that recently in Hillingdon, some young people have been seen and even arrested for torturing and attempting to kill animals. At the request of the local Police Team, this week's assembly discussed this and gave pupils details of how to report any behaviour of this type as well as any other antisocial, dangerous or criminal behaviour.
To anonymously report a crime, you can contact Crimestoppers, a charity that specialises in providing a safe and confidential way to report criminal activity without revealing your identity.
They can be reached by phone at 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
To engage pupils in a positive way, we then went on to explore the range of wildlife found in Hillingdon. If you are interested, you might like to look some of these up with your child and even go on a wildlife walk to see what you can spot!
From 2024, all of the following have been found / seen in the Hillingdon area:
- Kingfishers
- Toads
- Ducks
- Badgers
- Slow Worms
- Fox
- Pigeon
- Newt
- Parrot
- Squirrel
- Barn owl
- rabbit
- Red-tailed kite
- Deer
- Hedgehog
- Garden birds
- As well as many others!

Refreshments for Sports Day
- Can You Help ?
Friends of Meadow, our parent, carer and teacher association, are looking to provide refreshments to visitors during our sports days during sports week, 30th June - 4th July.
We need volunteers to plan and taste-test beforehand and help out on the sports days themselves.
It's a great way to get to know the school and other parents and carers, as well as having some fun and raising money along the way.
Happy half-term!
John Goodbody
Secretary, Friends of Meadow

Friends of Meadow AGM
(Annual General Meeting)
- More Fun Than It Sounds -
Friends of Meadow, our parent, carer and staff association, is having its AGM at 11.30am in the school café on Thursday 5th June. All parents, carers and staff are welcome to come along.
It is an AGM, so there are some formalities to go through which are not necessarily riveting. However, don't stop reading... it's a chance to discuss our plans for the year, get to know new people around the school and, this year, we're expecting a special VIP guest (top secret who it is, but let's just say he's taking up his role leading the school in September).
If you would like to attend and could drop an email to meadow@meadowhighschool.org so we have some idea of numbers that would be useful, but even if you don't, feel free to turn up on the day.
Kind regards
John Goodbody
Secretary, Friends of Meadow

Pathway 1
Centre Parcs Residential Trip
|
|
On Monday 12th May, Pathway 1 students set off on their annual residential trip to Centre Parcs. This year, many of them went for the first time and all had a fantastic time.
|
|
|
As usual swimming was the favourite amongst all with many taking the challenge of the water slides! Pupils also took part in archery, baby owls, rock climbing and crazy golf.
|
|
|
|
Pupils worked on their independence and life skills throughout the trip. Groups went to Tescos with their shopping lists and purchased all the ingredients they needed to cook their meals for the week. Pupils then worked together to cook their own delicious meals and clean each night for their lodges.
|
|
|
|
Thank you staff and pupils for another amazing year at Center Parcs!

Hilllingdon Council
Key Amnesty to Reclaim Homes
The council is offering tenants who are not entitled to be in one of its homes a chance to #DoTheRightThing and return their keys to the Civic Centre main reception, Uxbridge without facing criminal proceedings during a six-week key amnesty from 12 May to 23 June.
Council tenants who are illegally subletting, abandoning, or not occupying their council home are encouraged to hand in their keys without fear of repercussions, so the properties can be reallocated to people on the housing register.
If you suspect tenancy fraud is taking place, you can report it to the counter fraud team in confidence online at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/report-fraud, by calling 0800 389 8313 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) or emailing fraud@hillingdon.gov.uk
