Issue 23 - Friday 7 March 2025

Dear all,

Happy World Book Day! Today, we celebrate the magic of reading and the joy of exploring new worlds through the pages of a book. World Book Day is an annual event that encourages everyone—young and old—to pick up a book and immerse themselves in stories that inspire, educate, and entertain.

Whether it’s diving into the fantastical realms of fiction, uncovering new knowledge in non-fiction, or getting lost in an exciting adventure, books are powerful tools that shape our imagination, creativity, and understanding of the world.

Let’s come together today to celebrate the incredible power of books and share our love for reading.

From looking at new books at the book fayre, receiving a new book in assembly, attending a careers fair, meeting professions that help us, listening to staff read to us and an exciting inflatable obstacle course on the field.

Happy reading, Meadow High! Keep turning those pages! ???

Health & Social Care Visit to DASH

During a recent Health & Social care lesson, we visited DASH Hub to see the support offered to adults with SEN in our local community.

We had a tour, watched the clients playing bocha, met the art therapy staff and went inside the new sensory room. Our students chose to ask the staff supporting at DASH questions about client's values, safeguarding, fire assembly point and the activities available.

It was a very informative visit. Thank you to Chelsea and the team at DASH.

Miss Carter
Team Leader, KS5

You can read more about what DASH do on their website here:https://www.dash.org.uk/

They run activities for Over 16s, the timetable is below.    We have also attached a DASH Client Registration Form.

Comic Relief / Red Nose Day

Friday 21st March 2025

On Friday 21st March, we will celebrate 40 years of Comic Relief by hosting a non-uniform day with an '80s throwback theme!  If your child would prefer, they may wear red.

The pupils will be learning about the charity and all the work they do across the world in assemblies and PSHCE lessons that week. There will be an '80s-themed disco run at lunchtime for all students to enjoy the iconic music and style of the decade!

We will be accepting voluntary charity donations via your child’s parent pay account.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Childminders Needed

Here at Learn Hillingdon we offer Childminding Training, including support from the Childminding team within the Local Authority.

  • Flexible working hours that suit you and your family (including full-time, part-time or wrap-around care)
