Issue 33 -  Friday 5 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the final half-term of the year. I hope you all had a great break and were able to sample the wonderful weather with your families and friends.

Summer is well under way now, so can I remind all parents to ensure that their children arrive at school with a water bottle and have applied sun-tan lotion for the day if required?  Students will be outside for lessons and other activities, and it is important that they are prepared for it.

The last half-term ended on a high with a hugely successful ‘No Pens Day.’  The rationale behind this event was for students to develop multiple forms of communication rather than relying on the written form.  All staff were encouraged to enter into this with their form groups and classes and, unanimously they did.  Particular mentions have to go to the following groups who went above and beyond all expectations:

  • 7LD in Key Stage 3
  • 10DM in Key Stage 4
  • Class ZH in Pathway 1

Other individuals have received certificates in recognition of their individual efforts.

The final week also saw a number of our students brave the London traffic in order to visit the Victoria & Albert Museum.  They did this as part of their hair and nail course.  For many, this was their first time in Central London and for others they had never visited such a prestigious museum.

Can I also remind parents that the deadline for responses on the proposed change to the school day is Monday 8th June.  Thanks to those parents who have contributed so far, we are keen to gather as many views as possible in order to make an informed decision about what is best for the school. The link to the survey is below, and it will close at 5pm on Monday 8th June.

Finally, for this week a gentle reminder that the school car park must not be used by parents to drop off or collect their children at the start and end of the day.  We have a large number of coaches, buses and taxis to move safely off site and the presence of other vehicles is a risk to this.  I thank you for your support.

Year 8 Visit To HS2

This week, Year 8 students visited the HS2 portal at West Ruislip. They were given an insight into the wide range of job roles available within the company and received valuable information about apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways.

Students also had the opportunity to access the rooftop viewing area, where they were able to fly drones similar to those used by HS2 as part of their construction and surveying work on the project.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and gained a valuable insight into the exciting career opportunities available within the construction and engineering industries.

Elmer by David McKee

Read and signed by Mrs Sugden

Ever worried about fitting in?  Ever bought a top or shoes to be like your friends?  Don’t worry, we’ve all done it, ask people at home if you don’t believe me.

This book is a wonderful opportunity to think about what makes us all unique and celebrate that our differences are what make the world a better place.
