Weekly Bulletin - Issue 17 - Friday 22 January 2021

Issue 17 - Friday 22 January 2021

Dear Families,

I hope this finds you well.

Parent Governor

I am delighted to introduce to you a new parent Governor, Bernice Hughes, who has a son in Year 7.  Bernice brings valuable skills and joins a strong and supportive group of Governors with a wide range of backgrounds and experience.

Lateral flow testing

The Government has changed its advice regarding the use of the rapid testing in schools.  We will continue to administer tests every week to those who have given permission but, should anyone have had close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of Covid-19, that person will still be required to isolate at home for 10 days from the last day they had contact.

Education

Firstly, many thanks to all the family members who are supporting pupils at home with education.  All of our pupils require high levels of support and some of our pupils require extremely high levels of support to engage with learning and activities and I have been delighted to hear how well this is working.

I am very mindful that many of you are also supporting other children and juggling home working during this time so THANK YOU for all that you are doing.

If any of you are finding it hard to motivate your child to engage with learning please communicate with your Form Tutor who can support in a variety of different ways.

Learning platforms

Over the next few weeks we will be moving pupils' education to Google Classroom.  This learning platform is one used by many schools and you will be familiar with many of its features.  Information on how to access and use the platform will be shared and staff will support you should you need it.

Build

Thankfully, building work has not been disrupted by this latest lockdown and the work is progressing on schedule.  The frame and stairs for the main building are complete and the floors are currently being installed.  Don't forget you can check out the progress on our eye in the sky!

Best wishes to you and all your loved ones.

Head Teacher
