Weekly Bulletin - Issue 11 - Friday 27 November 2020

Issue 11 - Friday 27 November 2020

Dear Families

Covid

Since the last bulletin we have had one confirmed case of Covid-19 in the school community.  We have followed the advice from Public Health England in regard to staff and pupils.  Please be assured that this was not related to the previous confirmed cases and was not transmitted from within the school.

As you are aware, the Government has published its plans for after lockdown. Please find a link to them below:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/
uploads/attachment_data/file/937529/COVID-19_Winter_Plan.pdf

The main points in relation to schools are:

  1. There is no change to school holidays.  Meadow High School finishes this term at 2pm on Friday 18th December 2020 and we return to school at the normal time on Monday 4th January 2021.

  2. The guidance to the clinically extremely vulnerable not to go to work or school will end.

  3. Most children can be removed from the Shielded Patient List, following a clinician-parent conversation.  Those with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 and adults with Down’s Syndrome have been added to the Shielded Patients List.

Laptops

We now have 6 laptops provided by the Department for Education that can be loaned to pupils who are isolating if there is no device in the home.

Out of hours notification of a positive Covid test

If you are notified of a positive Covid test result within your household outside normal school hours, please send a text with the name of the pupil, which member of the household has the positive result and the isolation period directed by the NHS to 07851 254 246

Assembly

At this week's assembly we were joined by John Pickering, the Project Manager for the new school build.  Pupils learned about construction, equipment that will be used on our building site and the importance of never entering a construction site to play.  We also watched the first time-lapse video of the site.

Once the ground floor of the building has been built we will be able to take small groups of pupils to visit the site.  Pupils will be provided with PPE and will be supervised by school staff and escorted by a member of the build team at all times.

Best wishes for the weekend.

Mrs Rigby
Head Teacher
