Is your child a Young Carer?

Young carers are children and young people aged 5 – 24 who provide regular and ongoing care to a family member who is physically or mentally ill, disabled or misuses substances.

Caring responsibilities can have a big impact on young people. Their physical health, emotional wellbeing, education and social opportunities can all be affected.

Hillingdon young Carer’s aim to reduce the impact of caring and provide emotional support, social activities and information and advice.

If your child has any caring responsibilities please register your child with Hillingdon Young Carers.  You can call 01895 811206 or email

Please inform the school office if your child is registered/ or is in the process of being registered as a Young Carer.

Further support is available to help you register your child if required.  Please contact the school office on 01895 443310 and ask for Debby Gleed-Young, Home Liaison Officer.

Please visit the Speech and Language Therapy website – just search for “Hillingdon Talks” or visit for information about the service.   There are lots of strategies and resources for parents, nurseries and schools. There are also links to other useful websites and local support groups.  You can also follow us on Facebook – just search for “Hillingdon Talks”  for regular hints and tips to support your child’s communication.

On Sunday 5th May, 35 members of staff from Meadow High School ran the Tough Mudder in Henley. A lot of mud, sweat and tears went into completing the course and I am happy to say that everyone finished! Lots of hills and walls were climbed, lots of mud was waded through and

A LOT of cold water was fallen into! We smashed the original target of £1,000, so the target was raised to £1,500…this was then beaten again and we are nearly at £2,000 for ‘Friends of Meadow’!   Thank you so much to all the parents and staff who have supported this fundraiser.   The donation page will be open for a little longer, so please keep donating!  More pictures will be on the website.
