Issue 17 - 18 January 2019

I am delighted to announce that we have just appointed a Family Liaison Officer.  The Family Liaison Officer will work with families, offering information and support to parents on a wide range of matters, training and providing 1-1 support to parents with specific issues.  We hope that this new appointment will compliment and strengthen our Team at Meadow.    You may have contact with our Family Liaison Officer in the near future.

Ms C Caddell—Deputy Headteacher

E-Safety Coffee Morning

On Friday 25th January we will be running another of our popular E-Safety Coffee Morning for parents of new pupils or those with recent concerns of their young people accessing the internet.   Letters have gone home today with more details.

Project Search Open Evenings

Sixth Form pupils in Year 13 and 14 have been invited to attend one of two open evenings taking place on 31 January and 11 February to explore the possibility of becoming a Project Search intern at the Marriott Hotel Heathrow, once they leave Meadow.    We are now in our third year of working with the Marriott Heathrow and London Borough of Hillingdon to provide supported internships.  A number of ex Meadow pupils have successfully taken part in this project.   More can be read about Project Search on the School Website (Our School / Sixth Form / Project Search). Please see attached flyer with more details.

Mr A Bunker—Assistant Head, Sixth Form

Parent Working Party - Extended Learning Focus  (previously called Homework!)

We are currently developing a framework for parents, carers and families to support their child to practice and use the skills and knowledge learned in school, at home and in the community. We would welcome interested people to join a working party, so that we can ensure we are not only meeting your child's needs, but are making a system that is  accessible and meaningful for you to support them.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday 24th January 1.00 - 2.30 pm. If you would like to and are able to attend please call school to let us know (so we can make sure we have enough parking spaces and refreshments).

Mrs J Rigby—Headteacher

COLDER WEATHER & SEVERE WEATHER CONTINGENCY

With weather reports saying that things are turning much colder, please can we remind parents that pupils should be wearing suitable clothing during the colder weather.    A warm coat, hat and gloves and sturdy footwear is a must as pupils regularly play outside.   All uniform and clothing should be clearly labelled with the child’s name.

In the event of severe weather, such as heavy snowfall, the school will put a notice on the top of the front page of the school website by 7am giving any urgent information and updates. If there is no message on the front of the website then the school is open as normal.  Parents can read the Severe Weather Contingency on the school website under Parents / Severe Weather.
