Project SEARCH Cohort 5
September 2020 – July 2021
Our 5th cohort of students were welcomed onto our supported internship at the Marriott Hotel in September 2020. The hotel is fully Covid compliant to maintain the safety of our students, staff and guests. Our new cohort of 7 students are pictured below after the pinning ceremony in which they received their name badges:
Our interns are fully immersed in the workforce for 5 hours a day and they have begun learning the work skills required in their first internship departments, as shown in the following photographs……
Interns learn about food hygiene so that they can safely store food in the appropriate area.
Interns help to clean and restock cutlery, plates, cups etc. and learn how to clear tables following breakfast service.
Our Public Area intern clears items from tables in the hotel lobby and sanitises the lobby and guest lifts.
Our House Keeping Porters complete a range of tasks, including restocking bedding and towels in guest floor cupboards and helping in the hotel laundry.
The Engineering team complete site security patrols, visiting designated locations around the hotel. They scan each location as proof that the area has been visited and checked.
Our Leisure Club internship involves greeting guests, organising the shop area, keeping the gym clean and testing the pool water.
Working in Human Resources and Sales is part of our Administration internship. Interns prepare display documents and spreadsheets and complete department filing.
