Governing Body effectiveness and impact
Governors receive regular updates on pupil performance and are aware of the school systems for tracking pupil progress and achievements. Governors are also aware that those pupils not making expected progress are carefully monitored.
There are dedicated roles for Governors including Child Protection / Safeguarding / Health & Safety / Student Voice / Looked After Children / Literacy / Numeracy / ICT / Website.
Governors meet with key staff who provide updates about their departments: Data Manager / Transition / Sixth Form / Outreach / Vocational. This allows governors to have an understanding of different aspects of the school.
Governors ensure all aspects of Teacher performance management are met. Governors formally sign off the Head Teacher and staff ensuring that progression matches results.
Governors trained in a variety of key activities: Safeguarding / Safer Recruitment / PREVENT / Health & Safety ensuring full understanding and knowledge of current requirements in these areas.
Governors have managed school finances (including audit) to remain within budget and meeting the objectives of the school development plan. Impact is that planned activities can be achieved.
Governors have spent time in school checking and ensuring key aspects of day to day expectations are met including shadowing staff. Governors are aware of how the school day operates.
Governors meet (see schedule) regularly and discuss with Senior School Leaders (who attend Governing Body meetings) various aspects including Curriculum / Health & Safety / Finance / Resources.
Governors regularly check all Health & Safety procedures and policies are compliant ensuring a safe environment for all.
