Maths Week 2017

20 March -24 March 2017
Incorporating Red Nose Day

Another successful year to Maths Week, in which students took part in a number of enrichment activities all related to the theme 'Magical Maths'.  The week kicked off with a whole school assembly to introduce and 'Wow' the students with mathematics magic tricks.  Monday was filled with many students taking part in the 'Mathemagician' Workshops in which they learnt tricks and tips to work out square numbers, calculating someone's age and code-breaking techniques.

Students loved visiting the Harry Potter display setup, where they had a choice of activities to complete, like estimating the amount of potion in bottles and counting how many Golden Snitches were hidden around.  Also, students had a chance to complete the maths activity packs and design a maths t-shirt to win one of the amazing prizes.

The week came to an end with students taking part in red nose day activities to raise money for charity, whilst wearing their designed maths t-shirts.  A fun and engaging week was had by all, thanks to the support from all the staff.
