First News Justice League

Miss Pasma and her Year 14 English Class took part in a competition where they had to create a poster outlining their class
achievements.   They have WON the
competition with First News Justice League! Their prize is £500 towards school equipment and £250 worth of Justice League goodies.  They will be featuring in First News newspaper!

(We will put a link to the article on the website when it is published).

In this age of instant communication via social media, we would urge parents and carers along with their family and friends to contact a senior member of staff at the school to check information that has been shared with them. One parent did just that this week. Following reading something regarding a Meadow pupil on Facebook the parent contacted the school and we were able to give the correct, factual information regarding the information that was being shared.

Shoebox Appeal

A few years ago, we asked pupils to fill a shoebox with goodies that can be taken to
The Jason Roberts Foundation, a SEN school in Grenada, where children can receive them on Christmas Day. Having virtually nothing, and living in very poor conditions, the children who receive these gifts from the charity loved the boxes and their contents.

We have asked the children again to take part if they so wish and the deadline for bringing your completed shoebox into school for
distribution to Grenada is Friday 24 November.

Boxes should be taken to Room 63 or 18.

Items that could be included: small toys, balls, complete jigsaws, colouring books, pens,
crayons, lego blocks, yo-yo, bubble blowers, pencil case, pencil sharpener, dominoes, playdough / plasticine & cutters, fluffy toys, dolls, stickers, writing pads, skipping rope, scarf, mittens / gloves, hat, harmonica, games, cards, etc.  Above all, the contents should be of a good quality, remembering that the recipient will be opening the box in eager anticipation, and especially with the toys, quite possibly the first real gifts they have received for a very long time.    FOR A FULL LIST OF WHAT TO INCLUDE AND WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE PLEASE CHECK THE letter sent home this week or the School Website (News/Latest News).

If you missed the letter which came home this week, and would like to participate, the full letter is on the website (Parents/Letters Home) and there is also an article (News/Latest News)

Summer School

During the summer we ran our first therapeutic summer school at Meadow High School. The Summer School ran for 4 weeks. The four weeks were split into different themes:

Week 1 – Let’s get out and about!

Week 2 – Let’s get weird and wonderful!

Week 3 – Let’s get creative!

Week 4 – Let’s get living!

If you would like to read more about Summer School, we have a full write up on our Website/News/Latest News.

Parent Questionnaire 2017

We have now read and evaluated all the

responses to the Parent Questionnaire we sent out in the Summer Term.    Thank you to all those who responded.  It is lovely to hear so many positive comments.  We value all feedback whether positive or negative as it helps and guides us to improve your School.  If you would like to read more about our Parent Questionnaire, some of the comments and our responses, please visit the Parents/Parent Questionnaire page of the School Website.
