ICT issues -You may be aware from your child or because you have emailed a member of staff, that we are currently experiencing ICT issues. Staff and pupils have been without computers for a week and a half. Imagine going back to the 80's! Thankfully, throughout this time, staff have ensured that pupils have still had the high quality teaching we expect. Please may we reassure you that this issue is being resolved thoroughly and as rapidly as possible? If you have any urgent issues please make contact with the school by phone or link book as there may be a delay in receiving and responding to emails. Thank you for your understanding during this period.
Website - We hope you have found our new 'device' accessible website more user friendly.
We will soon be uploading a new parent friendly, updated version of the subject matrices. These are documents which outline what your child will be studying. We hope that this will support you to talk to your child about these topics and (should you choose to) explore them further! Once our ICT system is back on line we will be hosting website sessions where we will show you features that you may find helpful and informative.
If there is any additional information that you would find useful on the website, please email Mrs Rigby on email@example.com
Old shape £1.00 Coins – On 15 October 2017 the old “round” £1.00 coin will no longer be accepted as legal tender. That means that you cannot use them in shops, machines, etc. Meadow High School will not be able to accept old shape £1.00 coins for payment of any kind. If you are sending in dinner money, breakfast club money etc. please ensure you do not send in old pound coins after this date. If you still have any old coins after this date you can take them into your bank or building society and they should be able to change them for you.
Uniform Checks – We have asked class tutors to carry out uniform checks this week. Mrs Rigby has also been carrying out checks of her own. We are delighted to say that the vast majority of pupils are looking very smart and wearing correct uniform. Where we have found an issue with an individual pupil’s uniform, class tutors will be in touch with parents. Don’t forget to clearly label all uniform and equipment with your child’s name.
Staff Macmillan Coffee Morning - This Monday and Tuesday Meadow staff ran a coffee morning at Briefing and Break time, in aid of Macmillan, a cancer support charity. This particular event was for staff only. Some staff baked, some staff brought in shop bought goodies, and some staff just ate generously! We are delighted to have raised over £160.00.
ASD Coffee Mornings will be running again this year. We are inviting parents of pupils affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder to come along to this informal group. The aim is to talk around issues, concerns and experiences parents may have with ASD. Mrs Watson, a Meadow teacher with a lot of experience in ASD, will be running the group again. We have the following dates so far, with more to come later in the year: Friday 13th October, 10th November, 8th December, 12th January. Refreshments provided! For all dates the times will be 10.15-11.15 in the School Library.
CEA Card – Does your child enjoy going to the cinema? We have a number of budding directors and movie fanatics in the Sixth Form. They would like to recommend and pass information to others about the CEA card. CEA card is a national scheme which allows a disabled person to have a friend or carer go in with them to the cinema for free. You can apply for a CEA card if you receive DLA or PIPS. For further details, terms and conditions and to apply go to https://www.ceacard.co.uk. Every little helps!
