Issue 12 - 1 December 2017

Severe Weather

We are apparently forecast some “arctic” weather conditions this winter!   Please can we remind parents to make sure pupils are dressed appropriately for the colder weather, and that all coats, gloves and hats are labelled with the child’s name.

For your information our severe weather contingency is as follows:

  • If schools transport are unable to collect your child, please telephone the school and leave a message.

  • If school is closed to pupils, then this will be posted on the front page of the school website and on the News/Latest News page.   A message will be on the school answerphone School Telephone number is 01895 443310.

  • If schools transport are not able to bring your child home, please ensure you are contactable in case we need to ask you to collect your child. School Transport number is 01895 250008.

Pupils who travel to school independently MUST CHECK THE SCHOOL WEBSITE BEFORE LEAVING HOME.

Celebration of Achievement Evening took place last night, attended by many of our Year 11 and Sixth Form pupils who came up on stage to receive their exam certificates.  Also in
attendance were the Mayor of Hillingdon, Governors and our Guest of Honour Mrs Mel Buxton (Travel Trainer). Mrs Buxton presented pupils with their certificates.  Speeches were made by Mr. Macdonald, Mr. Burton—Chair of Governors, Mrs Buxton,  The Vote of Thanks was made by Harry Norris—Head Boy.  The evening was a big success.   Photos of the evening will be on the website very soon.

The Raffle in aid of the Sixth Form Charity (Great Ormond Street Hospital) raised £165.00.

The School Field is not available to pupils during playtimes and lunchtimes until further notice. The winter weather is making it very muddy and slippery. Please reassure your child the field will be
available again once the weather gets warmer.

School Payments

Reminder:

Please can we remind all parents/carers that old  £1.00 coins are no longer legal tender and  will therefore no longer be accepted  by the school as payments for  dinners/breakfast club etc.  Please can you ensure you hand in the correct tender for such payments to avoid any inconvenience.  Thank you for your co-operation. School Business Manager

Mrs Chris Edwards has served on the Meadow Governing Body as a Parent Governor for over five years.  She has sat on a number of committees, attended Governor Days in school and more
recently acted as Vice Chair of Governors.    Mrs Edwards will be standing down from the Governing Body at Christmas.

We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Mrs Edwards for her contribution to Meadow High School and the Governing Body.

News about vacancies for new Governors will follow in the New Year.

Winter Concert Performances

As we reported in the Bulletin last week, the School Winter Performances will take place on 6/7/8 December 2017 (dates and times under “Upcoming Events”).

There will be a stall selling delicious cupcakes for 50p each and also a variety of Christmas goodies.

Shoebox Appeal—Deadline Extended

Thank you so much for all the wonderful donations of shoeboxes and gifts to go inside.   We have decided to extend the deadline for shoeboxes and/or donated items to be in school to
Friday 8 December.  It may suit you to drop off shoeboxes or items at one of our upcoming events—Celebration of Achievement Evening, Winter Concerts, Home Reading Support Meeting, etc. We want to give every child a box!   You can see the wonderful work we support by visiting www.jasonrobertsfoundation.com.
UPDATE:  We really need more boxes, so if you do have any empty shoeboxes please could you send them into school next week.  Thank you.
