Alice in the School of Woooonder ! - June 2016

In the Autumn Term 2015, a hand-picked group of Year 11s and Sixth Formers were invited to join Script Writers Club, held on Thursday evenings.  They, along with a number of staff, created the ideas, character, story and script for Alice in the School of Wooooonder !

We held a "Hatters Tea Party" to raise funds to pay for costumes and things we would need for the show.  We managed to raise over £500.00.   You can see below everyone had great fun and we raised lots of money.  (See Arts News for more details of this event).

We held a competition, open to all pupils, to design a poster for the show.   The winning designs were used on the Show Programme, on posters around the school and on the front of the book the Narrator read from during the show.  Well done to the winners !

Production Club ran from January - July 2016 on Thursdays after school.

If you would like to read the script, please scroll right to the bottom of this page and click on the attachment.

We rehearsed the songs until we knew them off by heart.  The dancers rehearsed their steps until they were perfect.  The actors learned their lines and rehearsed their socks off. Miss Kalia and Miss Robinson directed us until we were ready for showtime!

Alongside Production Club was another group of pupils who worked alongside Mr Hancox to design the set, props, artwork and decorations for the show.

We bought costumes and some were made or decorated by our talented staff.  Mrs Wallington made the Narrator's suit by stencilling glittery letters onto an old suit.

Performers on the night were treated to full makeup and hair in our Salon, organised by Miss Lennon our Hairdressing tutor.  Lots of staff helped to get us ready !

Miss Shulka and the Food Tech department sorted refreshments for the evening. Yum !

Finally, on 4 & 5 July 2016 we were ready to do our full performances.  We performed to parents, pupils, governors, staff and special guests.   Phew, what a great show !
