Chair of Governors

I became a Governor at Meadow shortly after my son started to attend the school and that is now over 20 years ago.  I have been Chair of the Governing body for much of that time and have been a member of various committees and working groups too. Over the years the school has changed, not only the needs of our pupils, but the buildings too and with completion of the new school building we now have a school to be proud of and fit for the future. I am proud of the progress the school has made and, more importantly, the achievement of our pupils. I am very clear this has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of the whole staff team. I retired from a career in financial services in 2020, so it may not be a surprise that my interests as a Governor are in finance, resources. premises and now compliance – our policies, GDPR etc.  In my spare time I enjoy watching football and my sons and I are season ticket holders at Fulham.

Graeme Vickery

Vice Chair of Governors

Graeme is Deputy Chair and has been a school governor since 2010.  He chairs the Achievement Committee, is the nominated governor with special interest in pupil progress and is deputy governor for safeguarding and child protection. His son is a former pupil.

Graeme is civil servant responsible for legislation relating to the recycling of unwanted electrical items.  He has expertise in project and people management, analysis and problem solving.  His external interests include cycling, model railways and supports Arsenal.

Pauline Hardy

I retired in 2022 after working as the Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Meadow High School for over 30 years.  My mother was the school secretary for 27 years before me so, from a very young age, I have always had a great interest in the school.  I have been a Governor for many years and I am very excited for the next stage of Meadow’s development.  

Away from school I enjoy swimming, walking, reading and meeting up with friends, many of whom I met through Meadow.

I have been a governor at Meadow High School since February 2016.  Both my daughters have been working as teachers at the school since 2010 and I became interested in the school and took a keen interest in the school ‘out of hours activities’ that they participated in.

I had previously worked in various schools in a voluntary capacity while my four children were growing up and was exposed to training as a ‘named person to help with special needs statements for parents and carers’.  I also worked in a self-employed capacity jointly with my husband for many years prior to 2000 and was strongly involved in making strategic decisions for the business.

Since August 2000 I have worked in the civil service in various roles within the Home Office. One of these roles was an Equality and Diversity Advisor and the lessons and skills learnt are very transferable and relevant to the governor role.

I have a special responsibility in supporting EAL within the school

John Goodbody

My daughter joined Meadow High School in year 7 in 2016 and I was appointed as a Parent Governor in 2017. 

My working life has involved designing, implementing and supporting high value payment systems for 25 years, after graduating from the University of Bradford in managerial sciences.  The work combined technical IT skills with the need to communicate effectively and work with clients to satisfy their requirements.  I worked for British Coal for a year and, despite being based in Harrow, I did have the unforgettable experience of descending into a deep mine once.

The passion and enthusiasm of the staff at Meadow High School, to help my daughter make the most of her abilities, motivated me to become a governor.  In the role, I hope to support and constructively criticise the school, with the aim of making it even better for our children.

In my spare time I enjoy Indian food, American folk music and the footballing talents of Hayes & Yeading United.  I play tennis, the piano, swim and am usually up for a game of table tennis, although all of them with more enthusiasm than skill.  

Phil Haigh

LA Governor

I am a retired businessman and experienced Governor.   I started as a Parent Governor at Grangewood Special School where I stayed for over 30 years serving as Chair for 20 years.  I was instrumental in setting up and establishing the Eden Multi-Academy Trust and have only recently retired as a Director/Trustee.

As well as being the LA Governor at Meadow High School I am the Chair of Governors at Cherry Lane Primary School.

I am a Primary School Representative on the London Borough of Hillingdon Schools’ Forum of which I am currently Deputy Chair. I also chair the High Needs Funding Group and the DSG (Dedicated School’s Grant) Monitoring Group/Early Years Funding Group. I have recently been appointed as the Governor Representative on the Schools’ Strategic Partnership Board (SSPB)

I am Deputy Chair of the London Borough of Hillingdon Governors’ Executive Committee and also Chair a number of Admissions Appeals Panels for Academies and Voluntary Aided Schools.

I became a Parent Governor when my son joined Meadow in Year 7.  I have another son aged 10 who is still at Primary School.  I work full time at a Primary School in the Borough as an Operation Manager.  I have learnt skills that I thought would be useful as a Parent Governor. 

As a parent I strongly believe that parents' involvement is essential to the success of any school and I am committed to using my skills, experience and passion to support our school community. 

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and swimming.

I joined as a parent governor when my niece (who I am guardian to) was in year 11, she is currently in year 13.

I became a governor as I felt that I needed to give back to a school who had helped my family through lots of issues, not just academically.

As well as being a mum to 3 children, I have a new rescue dog, so love attending various training classes with her.  I am a Treasurer to a Scout Group.  I am a Producer for a local community Pantomime group and I work full time in a local High School as an Office
Manager.  So, time is precious and helping out at Meadow is giving back to what they as a team give to all their pupils.

Parent Governor

Meadow High School has an exceptional staff team that go that extra mile, which has made me feel passionate about joining as parent governor. I became a parent governor in Dec 2023. 

I currently work for the Local authority (LA) in Public Health, adults and communities. My role is to support commissioning, performance manage services in the community, liaise with local partners to promote partnership working and offer the best available support for residents. 

As a parent, I am passionate for young people and parents to have a voice.  I am keen to work with the school to provide a caring,
well-led, safe and growing environment. 

I am mindful of the importance of embracing different cultures and the feedback from the school community will allow us to observe and review our processes, which will help us shape a brighter future. 

I love spending time with family, listening to a range of music and going out with friends. I believe in alternative  strategies and therapies which will emotionally, physically and academically  support young people to be the best they can be. I believe different methods work for different people. 

I hope to be able to support the school’s strategic vision and values.
